Are You Committed or Are You a Contributor?
You have probably heard the following story. But, it makes a good point. A pig and a chicken were walking down the road. As they passed a church, they noticed that a potluck charity breakfast was under way. Caught up in the spirit, the pig suggested to the chicken that they each make a contribution. "Great idea!" the chicken cried. "Let's offer them bacon and eggs!" "Not so fast," said the pig. "For you, that's just a contribution, bur for me, it's a total commitment." Are you the chicken or the pig? Do you contribute or are you genuinely committed. Does your attendance, giving, serving, and participation identify you as one who is making a contribution, or one who is committed? I think we all know what might be expected of each of us from our Lord.

Palm Sunday, March 25, Combined Morning Service   We are a few Sundays away from Palm Sunday. On March 25 we will experience one combined morning worship service at 11:00 a.m. Sunday School will be at 9:45 a.m. A portion of the service will be devoted to observing the ordinance of the Lord's Supper. Our Adult Worship Choir and Joyful Sound Choir will sing several special arrangements, and I will bring a message from God's Word as we reflect on the crucified Christ. PLEASE make every effort to be in the Lord's house on this very special Lord's Day.

Annie Armstrong Easter Offering
Annually, we receive an offering to support the gospel work of Southern Baptists in North America. This offering is called the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering. Prior to receiving this offering, we engage in a week of prayer for mission endeavors across our nation and beyond. Our week of prayer will be March 4-11, and our ingathering for this special offering will be March 18. Our offering goal is $15,000. Would you please pray and ask God what He would direct you to give. Thank you.

Is Church an Option or Obligation?
One of the realities of the 21st century is that we seem to live in what is called a post-Christian era. Add to that, it would seem, too, that we live in a post-church era, meaning that so many in the modern day view their involvement with a local church as more of an option and less of an obligation. If one is not tired on Sunday morning; if one does not have a sports commitment on Sunday morning; if one does not have other plans on Sunday morning; then, one might find themselves "heading to church." It's as if church has become the option of last resort. People are busy, distracted, over-extended, and out-of-balance with their priorities. I get it. To me, this is a sad dynamic with which we must contend. There is nothing in Scripture that encourages us to put our commitment to church as the last rung on the priority ladder. In fact, the Bible says very clearly, "Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching" (Hebrews 10:25). God has not moved. He forever desires to draw near to us. His Word is still true. Christ's church remains His radiant bride. I assure you that it is not God, it's us. Beth and I have NEVER regretted bringing our children to church. If you are a parent, you have a divine responsibility to put your children under the teaching and preaching of the Word of God. Do you desire to have a stronger marriage? Come to church. Do you have problems in your life? Come to church. Do you need guidance for the varying situations in your life? Come to church. God wants you here. I love our church. I'm grateful to God for Field Street Baptist Church. I know you are as well. Please consider this gentle reminder prayerfully. The next few weeks are special and important as we look to remembering the cross of Christ and His miraculous resurrection! I hope you will make every effort to be with the people of God, on the Lord's Day, in the Lord's house. Like the pig, be committed. Make church an obligation.
                                                                                   With much affection,

Senior Adult Ministry

DON'T MISS THIS!  Tuesday, March 13--Young at Heart.  Our special guest will be Don Graves. In early 1945, with Allied troops heavily embattled in both Europe and Japan, three U.S. Marine divisions landed on the beach of an extinct volcano and fought one of the most significant battles on the Japanese front. Marine Combat veteran, Don Graves, survived the bloody Battle of Iwo Jima, helping the U.S. secure Mt. Surabachi where the ceremonious raising of the flag took place along with taking control of this pivotal airbase. Don will be singing the National Anthem and sharing his story with us on March 13. We are allowing him a full hour to share his story. Hope you won't miss it!

SUNDAY, MARCH 25.  . . Joyful Sound will join the Adult Worship Choir in leading our Palm Sunday services. We will have only one combined service at 11:00 a.m. that morning and in addition to the choir music and sermon, we will also observe the Lord's Supper. Of course, that signals the coming of Resurrection Sunday, April 1.

April 22-25

Our  Senior Adult Revival is almost here--April 22-25.  Our guest preacher is Dr. David Hardage. Be sure and put this on your calendar. You won't want to miss a single service. He will preach in all services on Sunday and then each morning at 10:00 a.m. Of course, we will have a free lunch each day, Monday through Wednesday.
