Looking to the Summer Weeks!
Very soon the summer weeks will be upon us! What does that mean? It means opportunities abound for ministry, especially ministry available to our children and students. Please watch the worship bulletin, the weekly events e-mail, the eFocus Newsletter, and other forms of communication and information sharing regarding specific dates and critical details. Also, you can access our website and click the "events" link to get up-to-date information regarding upcoming events. However, some of the highlights for the summer will include Vacation Bible School, backyard Bible clubs, camps, the summer concert series, and mission trips. Specifically, please be much in prayer for the mission trip to the Dominican Republic set for June 7-14. It's going to be a meaningful and fruitful summer to the glory of God!

Upcoming Sermons in Revelation
God has proven Himself true to His Word--reading, hearing, and acting on the book of Revelation has already been a blessing to the church. I praise God and thank Him for the high level of interest in this verse-by-verse exposition of this apocalyptic book. Please continue to pray for God's grace to us as we make our way through this fascinating, Christ-exalting book. Below are the upcoming sermons:

May 12-"Faithful-3:7-13
May 19-"The Self-Satisfied, Smug Church"-3:14-22
May 26-"The Splendor of the Throne of God"-4:1-11
June 2-"The Infinite Worthiness of the Lamb"-5:1-14

Sally Smith Submits Resignation
Recently, Sally Smith submitted her resignation as one of our administrative assistants. More than nine years ago Sally came to serve on our support staff. During this time Sally has distinguished herself as a highly capable, trusted, and competent assistant. She has fulfilled her responsibilities  in an exemplary fashion. In fact, for more than 44 years Sally and Mark have served the Lord at Field Street in a tireless and deeply committed fashion. Sally's presence in our office will be missed; however, she is not "retiring" from church nor is the "quitting" work in the church; Sally is simply changing her focus and area of service. I thank God for Sally Smith and wish her God's very best in this next season of family life and service to the Lord. Sally's resignation will be effective May 30. Thank you, Sally, for the significant contribution you have made to the work of Christ through Field Street Baptist Church!

    With much affection,

Summer Series Concerts

Join us for the premier concert of the Summer Concert Series at Field Street! Our first concert will feature the ministry of Adam Crabb. Adam is the newest lead singer with the Gaither Vocal Band. As a member of the award-winning Crabb Family, he learned early in life how to harmonize and blend like a pro; now after approximately two decades of on-stage and studio work, his rich musical heritage is evident. In addition to his seasoned musicianship and soulful vocal delivery, Adam's love for his Savior and unique gift for communicating the heart of a song truly makes him one of the most authentic voices in gospel music today. The concert will be on Sunday, June 2, at 6:00 p.m. followed by a reception.

The purpose of the Sunday evening concert series is to bring in gifted musicians dedicated to using their gifts and talents to glorify Jesus Christ and edify the body of Christ. These artists who come from different musical backgrounds will inspire and build up all in attendance. The concert series will also provide an enjoyable time of fellowship for our church to meet and get to know the artists. This series is planned to be self-supporting. This means that a love offering will be collected on the nights of the concert and that love offering will pay for the artist's honorarium.

In addition to Adam Crabb on June 2, we will welcome the Blackwood Quartet on July 7; and the Joshua Experience-God's Big Band on August 4.

Summer Break for Adult Worship Choir

We will not have Wednesday rehearsals July 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 and August 7.  However, we WILL continue to fill the choir loft through the summer.

Living Christmas Tree -December 13, 14 & 15, 2019

Living Christmas Tree rehearsals will begin on August 28! Watch for more details.

Thank you for allowing me to serve Christ with you!

Senior Adult Ministry

AT THE TIME. . .this article was written, our Senior Adult Revival was in full swing. We were so pleased to have Jim Hancock as our guest preacher. I would like to give special words of appreciation to Joyful Sound for their faithful attendance in every service and to Suzanne Rains and Connie Parr for doing such a great job at the piano and organ. A special "thanks" to our Ladies' Trio (Connie Crain, Connie Parr & Suzanne Rains). I also wanted  to express appreciation to Billy Woods for his work behind the scenes. He took time to put all the words into the computer so we could use them in every service. There were several songs that were not in our hymnal, so this was a wonderful way to have those words available. Thanks, Billy!

JOYFUL SOUND. . . ended their spring schedule with a concert at the Wren Place on Tuesday morning, May 7. I have been so pleased with the growth of this choir not only in numbers but in their singing. It has been such a joy to watch this progression.

I WAS JUST. . .looking at our church calendar--June is right around the corner. It will mark the beginning of a "busy summer:" Vacation Bible School, camps for children and youth; mission trips, and so many other wonderful activities. As our pastor has said on many occasions, "summer is not a time to take our foot off the excelerator."  It's FULL SPEED ahead!
