From Our Pastor

Thank You, Church
Thank you for your kindness to me and my family on the occasion of our 15th anniversary here at Field Street. The afternoon reception was meaningful, and the love offering was exceedingly generous. I especially treasure the hymn arrangement put together thoughtfully by John Glover. We are grateful to God for these years of ministry together with you and for God's glory. It is an honor and privilege to serve as Pastor of this wonderful church. We thank you for your expressions of love, encouragement, and support and thank you for celebrating this milestone anniversary for and with us.

Minister of Music
Thank you for your prayers regarding our search for a Minister of Music. To date, we have received several resumes and names of candidates. From those, we have zeroed in on a candidate and have conducted a formal interview with him and then a second interview with him and his wife. We are checking references, conducting background checks, and praying for God's continued guidance as we move ahead in this process. Depending on the results of our conversations and investigation, we may soon arrive at a place where we are prepared to recommend a candidate to the church. Now is certainly the time to ask God to give wisdom and discernment to the Personnel Committee in knowing His will and person for this position. Thank you.

A Proposal for a Modest Re-Model of Our Worship Center Platform Area
On Sunday morning, May 20, we will unveil a plan and proposal for a modest re-model and update of our worship center platform area. Other details will be shared which I am convinced you are going to embrace enthusiastically.

Jerry Melson's 25th Anniversary Sunday
On Sunday, June 3, we will celebrate Jerry Melson's 25th anniversary as a staff member at Field Street Baptist Church. Twenty-five years is a SIGNIFICANT milestone and achievement for any staff member in a local church! In Jerry's honor, we will have one combined service that Sunday at 11:00 a.m. Jerry will preach. He and his family will be recognized. Then, from 1:30-3:00 p.m. in the family life center, a reception will be hosted to celebrate with Jerry. At 2:00 p.m. our Personnel Committee will make a special presentation to Jerry. We are also receiving a love offering to affirm Jerry on this remarkable occasion. Congratulations, Jerry!

Summer Emphasis: Together
Our emphasis this summer is TOGETHER-together in worship, together in the Word of God, together in our work for the Lord, together on Wednesdays, and together in our witness in this community and beyond. I'm praying God gives us favor with a very fruitful summer of ministry and growing closer together!
                                                                                   With much affection,
     --John Hall, Pastor

The children's choirs have been suspended for the summer months, but watch for more information about the 2018-2019 children's choir year coming in August.

LOOKING BACK. . . first of all, thank you for your prayerfulness on my behalf during the revival services. I had a "cough" that would not go away. I'm so grateful to the Lord and for your prayers during this time. Dr. Hardage did a great job. The Lord gave us good weather and the attendance was wonderful. I felt the presence of the Lord in each of the services and we are so happy that God added to His church.

JOYFUL SOUND. . .filled the choir loft for all the services on Sunday of the revival and I was so proud of them. We've always had a great group of women, but this year we finished the year with the largest group of men. . .EVER! We will complete our spring schedule with a concert at the Wren Place on Tuesday morning, May 7.

LOOKING AHEAD. . . several have asked if we're planning to make the trip to Tyler in June again this year for the Patriotic Spectacular at Green Acres. I don't have the date as yet, but we will plan to make that available and see who might be interested. I think it will be the last Sunday in June. Watch for some news about this opportunity.

  --John Glover
