Sanctuary Renovation . . .
I have been so pleased with the modest renovation/remodeling of the sanctuary. I think the upgrades and updates have already enhanced what we are doing in corporate worship. I thank God that we had the necessary resources to make the modifications to the worship center. The sound system, the lights, the enlarged visual screen, the additional space on the platform, and the new carpet installation have all been welcome additions to the updating of our worship space. The new pulpit has arrived and we will soon be working to install the new baptistery. Thank you for supporting this project with such enthusiasm. These improvements will enhance our worship gatherings for years to come in a God-honoring manner. A special thanks to John DeBie for keeping the project moving along, and thank you to Billy Woods and company for their significant efforts related to the sound system in particular, and attention in general to many other aspects of the renovation. Also, thank you to Jerry and the Building and Grounds Committee for their labors.

Getting the Word Out . . . Using Social Media
I'm told that Facebook and other social media platforms could prove useful in getting the word out about Field Street Baptist Church. If you have a Facebook page, perhaps you would be willing to share in a positive manner about Field Street with five of your Facebook friends. We have a variety of ministries that serve well the needs of people and families. We have well-planned, God-exalting worship services. We have excellent ministries for children and youth, as well as senior adults. We have Bible study opportunities for men and women. We have the Living Christmas Tree in the works as the first of December approaches. We could use your help. Please help us to get the word out to others about what God is doing in and through our church. Thank you.

Our Sunday Morning Worship Services . . .
For many of our people who cannot physically attend our Sunday morning worship services, those folks may now view our services live via Facebook. Or, folks may view our services online by going to our website ( www.fieldstreet.com) and clicking the link  "watch" at the top of the home page. Our modest improvements to the worship center have strengthened our ability to broadcast our services via social media and the internet, as well as the quality of those broadcasts. We have been pleasantly surprised by the response of people that they can now access our services when they are out-of-town, or cannot physically get to the church facilities. This is yet another way we are attempting to minister to the church body as best as we can. Also, this may prove to be another avenue of getting the word out about Christ, first, and then the ministries of our church, second. Please be patient with us as we make progress in our efforts to be more accessible online.

Field Street Missions Fair . . .

This Sunday, October 7, following the 11:00 a.m. worship service we are hosting a mission fair in the family life center. A sandwich lunch will be served. Childcare is provided by reservation for infants through 3rd grade. If you would like to come and learn more about how God is using FSBC in missions, then you may want to consider coming to this event. You will have opportunity to learn about some of our mission work in Cambodia, Mission Waco, Construction, Poland, New Orleans, Backyard Bible Clubs in Cleburne, Dominican Republic, Philippines, and more. You will receive information about how you might join us in praying for missions, giving for missions, and going on mission. I think this will be an inspirational time of information sharing about the missions efforts of Field Street.

SAVE THE DATE NOW!

FEBRUARY 22-24, 2019--BAYLOR FESTIVAL OF YOUTH CHOIRS!

This is the most incredible opportunity for any student interested in Church Music in the country. This festival brings 200 different students 7th-12th grade together from over 20 churches to present an incredible worship concert in Jones Hall on the campus of Baylor University. As a director who has been taking students to this festival for 12 years, it is a profound experience difficult to put into words.

BRAZOS CHAMBER ORCHESTRA CONCERT

On Tuesday, October 16, at 7:30 p.m. the Brazos Chamber Orchestra will have a Fall Concert in our auditorium. The mission of BCO is to offer opportunities for musical enjoyment and the development of musical arts. The orchestra will elevate musical and artistic activities for the cultural education of our community.  You can show your support of their cause by attending the free concert. Many of our guest worship leaders perform in this group. They would enjoy seeing many from our Field Street family in attendance.

PLAY AN INSTRUMENT?

We have an orchestra on the second Sunday of each month. If you have played or know someone who plays an instrument, please send them my direction. It would be glorious to have an orchestra lead us in worship! Please help spread the word.

DO YOU HAVE SOME OF THE FOLLOWING SKILLS?

-Simple video editing skills

-Interest in designing lighting cues for Sunday worship

-Enjoy helping in behind the scenes tasks like: checking lyrics prior to services to make sure Billy doesn't misspell things

-Formatting slides so they look nice with proper pronunciation

-Counting worshippers during the service so Billy can concentrate on leading worship

-Putting batteries in microphones

-I need a designated social media person for our Facebook page

-I need help getting the fieldstreetchristmas.com going with good content that will help promote the upcoming presentation

- I need content writers for Living Christmas Tree publicity

If you might have some of these skills and might be interested in helping me with a few of these tasks, it sure would allow me to work on other projects. We could set up a convenient time for both of us. I could show you what I need help on, and then you can decide if you want to tackle one of these items on my list. Email me at [email protected] if you have an interest in assisting with one of these items.

Student Ministry

WHERE ARE OUR STUDENTS ON SUNDAY MORNING?
Maybe you have found yourself asking, "where are our students on Sunday mornings?" On some Sundays, our student section may look a little low in attendance. I want to assure you that they are coming and they are growing! If you would take a moment to glance around the sanctuary, you will find that several choose to sit with their parents. In addition, there are several more that you will not see. Why? They are serving! Every week, we have students serving and contributing to our church. With some serving in the sound booth and others in the nursery, we are encouraging our students to serve on Sunday mornings and aiming to open up doors of opportunity for even more to do so.

CURRENT TEACHING
Wednesday, October 3, we kicked off a Wednesday night message series called Asking for a Friend. This series will aim to answer the "big questions." What's the big deal about the Bible? How can anyone know for sure they are going to Heaven? Why does God allow bad things to happen? We are greatly encouraging our students to invite their friends during these weeks!
Sunday, October 7, we are beginning a teaching series on evangelism led by Mark Wood. For the remainder of the semester, students will be learning exactly how to share their faith with specific people.

CURRENT MOMENTUM
God is doing some big things among our students! We are seeing many take ownership of their faith in major ways. That's what we're all about! We are seeing students show tremendous spiritual growth in commitment to church, student-led prayer time before church and weekly at school(!), and regularly inviting peers and classmates. These are exciting times and we are doing everything we can to build on the current momentum God has blessed us with.

More information on each event, as well as registration and
payment, can be found on our church website.

Mission Statement: Teaching students to love, pursue, and worship Jesus while leading others to do the same.

Senior Adult Ministry

JUST A QUICK LOOK BACK . . .  I've really enjoyed the study "A Man Called Peter." We've enrolled over 50 and had a great attendance each week. It's hard to believe, but the fifth week is coming this Monday, October 8. This study has reminded me of so many truths. It is wonderful to know that when the Lord looks down on us, He doesn't so much see "what" we are now as "what" we can be. After this study, it's no surprise to me that God would trust him with such a wonderful confession, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the Living God."

AT THE TIME . . .  of writing this article, Joyful Sound is preparing to sing for the first time. We have a record number in the choir this fall and I'm so glad that some of that increase is in our men's section. I'm excited to see how the Lord is going to use Joyful Sound in the days ahead.

LOOKING AHEAD . . . to an event that will soon be here--Young At Heart's Holiday Banquet--Tuesday night, November 20. We're going to start our meal at 5:30 PM in the Family Life Center followed by a great program at 6:30 PM in the Worship Center. We have some "mystery guests" for the program and you're going to be surprised. . .and pleased when you see them. Put down this date, TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 20.  It's one of the two "evening" meetings for Young at Heart. DON'T MISS IT!!
