The Final, Formal Month

We are in the home stretch regarding our two-year emphasis in working together to eliminate the indebtedness on the children's building. Our formal campaign concludes on October 31. THANK YOU for your incredible, exemplary generosity in moving toward the finish line of being debt free. We are so close. Please prayerfully consider one final contribution to assist us in realizing the reality of paying off the children's building. I'm hoping we can announce on Sunday, November 5, that we are debt free! It needs to be stated, "To God be the glory!"

Congratulations to Jennifer Howington and John Glover
We are blessed with a  very fine staff team. Two of our staff recently observed anniversaries on our staff--Jennifer Howington and John Glover. Congratulations to Jennifer and John on the occasion of their anniversaries. Both are greatly appreciated for their exceptional service to the Lord and to the ministry of Field Street. As you have opportunity, please take the time to express to Jennifer and John your personal appreciation and prayerful support of their leadership and ministry.

Budget Preparation for 2018
Annually, a budget, or spending plan is put together to guide the church in the responsible allocation of resources given through God's people. I'm grateful to numerous individuals who give input to help shape a budget proposal which reflects our ministry priorities and commitments. I'm especially grateful for a church family who gives so generously to support the operating budget and several designated offerings throughout the year. Please pray for this process.

Congratulations Field Street Baptist Church
I was informed recently by the leadership of the Baptist General Convention of Texas that Field Street will be the recipient of a distinguished award for the Top Cooperative Program Giving Church in our size category within the entire state of Texas. This award will be given at the annual meeting of Texas Baptists in November. While God certainly deserves the glory, you church, are to be commended for being a leading, exemplary church in generous giving. May God continue to bless His people with a charitable heart and desire to give responsively as you so faithfully do. For this and many other reasons, I am quite proud of you. Congratulations, church!

 See you Sunday!

ADULT WORSHIP CHOIR
Even though we are working on Christmas music, we aren't stopping our preparations for Sunday morning worship in the Adult Choir. We rehearse our Sunday morning music on Wednesdays from 7:00-7:30 pm and then transition into LCT music at 7:30. I hope you'll consider helping lead worship with us on Sunday mornings!

LIVING CHRISTMAS TREE
Preparations are well under way for the twenty-seventh Living Christmas Tree. Our rehearsals are going extremely well and we have added several new faces to the tree this year. We are looking forward to another great December. Be sure to mark your calendars for our presentations, December 8th & 9th at 7:00 pm and December 10th at 3:00 pm.

Our September  Preteen Fall Retreat was a great opportunity for our new 5th & 6th graders to get to know each other. We had a great time of fellowship, Bible study and FUN! A special thank you to Rick and Anne Deem for hosting this year!

Our 1st annual family mission trip to Mission Waco is Saturday, October 7th. Please be in prayer for the families who will be participating. This trip will involve leading a Backyard Bible Club, participating in a service project, doing a prayer walk for homelessness and leading the devotional time at a homeless shelter. All preteens are invited to join us.

Fall is definitely approaching and we look forward with anticipation to all that this season will bring. We are diligently making plans for our annual Trunk or Treat event which will be held trunk or treat on Sunday, October 29, from 6:00-7:30 p.m. in the northwest parking lot. Come prepared for a fun evening of candy, games, puppets, balloon animals and our petting zoo. We are in need of extra hands to help man the booths and Bible Fellowship classes to host a trunk. Also, we are now accepting donations for bags of individually wrapped candies. If you would like to participate in any capacity or make a donation, please contact the church office.

October will begin our collection and distribution of shoe boxes for our annual Operation Christmas Child drive. In cooperation with Samaritan's Purse, it is our privilege to participate in providing school supplies, small toys, and clothes for children around the world. Stay tuned for more details and opportunities to participate.

UPCOMING DATES:

Family Mission Trip to Mission Waco--October 7, (leave at 7:30 a.m.)

Trunk or Treat--October 29, 6-7:30 p.m.

Mission Statement: Teaching students to love, pursue, and worship Jesus while leading others to do the same.

Our student ministry is off to a vibrant and exciting start this fall. We currently have strong programming and attendance for our Bible Fellowship classes, Wednesday night gatherings, and Sunday night Covenant Groups. Our students are responding well to some new opportunities to learn and lead.

One new element to our student ministry that I am personally very excited about is our new Elevate Leadership Teams. These teams include, Worship, Tech, Welcome, Outreach, Events, and Children's Ministry. The purpose behind these teams is to provide opportunities for our students to serve as well as take more ownership and responsibility.

If you would like to serve FSBC students in any capacity, from serving on Wednesday nights to being a personal mentor, you are always welcome and appreciated.

I'M READY. . . for the grass to stop "growing" so I can stop "mowing." It's hard to believe that it's October and the fall is well on its way. I love the fall! It's a time of "starting-up-again." Many things that were dormant during the summer come to life again in the fall. It's an exciting time!

YOUNG AT HEART. . . got off to a good start in September and we're excited about the program coming up on October 10. Sheriff Adam King will be our special guest. We have several opportunities coming for our senior adults.

1) Thursday, October 19--a trip to the Dallas Arboretum. A sign-up list will be on the table on the 10th. More details about the trip and cost will be available then.

2) Gospel Concert--we have the date. It's Friday, February 2 at Southwestern Seminary. We've already started a sign-up list and it will be available also on the 10th.

"Joyful Sound" . . . is also off to a good start. I'm excited about having several new singers and "more men." We're working hard to be able to sing for a service very soon. And you  know what they always say. . ."there's always room for more."

senior adultsMABS. . .  by the time you read this article, I will be finishing up the series "Doctrine Determines Direction." It's been a good series and very well attended. I'm so appreciative of those who take time on a Monday afternoon to study God's Word. I'm going to offer another MABS study in January, but I'm still undecided about the subject matter.
