Congratulations, Jennifer Howington
On Sunday, October 2, we celebrated Jennifer Howington's fifth anniversary on our church staff as Minister of Preschool/Children. For five years Jennifer has served with distinction, excellence, and passion for Christ and for children. Her ministry among and with us is exemplary and we greatly appreciate her leadership in our preschool/children's ministry. Congratulations, Jennifer, Lee, Kylee, and Kaden.

State of the Church Address/Message-2016
From time to time, I have brought a message defining the current reality of which our church faces. This Sunday will be such a time for us to think together about the past five years, the impact of those five years, and what will be our focus going forward. I am asking you to be present on this unique Sunday. Galations 6:9-10 will provide the backdrop for our thinking: "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers."

Budget Preparation for 2017
In a few weeks you will have the opportunity to review a proposed budget for 2017. A budget is a spending plan for how the church would allocate resources as God gives through His people. I am very appreciative of many individuals who have given input to help craft a budget which reflects our ministry priorities and commitments.

October 2017
We are one year away from our united goal of eliminating the debt on the children's building. We are making progress! I want to thank you for your generous giving in chipping away at our indebtedness. The children's building has been a very good tool for ministry to children and their families. Please continue to give as God leads you!

The Living Christmas Tree
Josh Thomas has indicated that preparations for the LCT 2016 are going well! Please join me in praying for Josh, the choir, technical support, and others involved in preparations for this year's ministry. May God use this ministry to impact Cleburne and the surrounding region with the Good News of Jesus Christ. It's not too late to join the tree; rehearsals are on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. in the choir suite.

See you Sunday!

The Living Christmas Tree

Thank you so much to those who have made the commitment to be a part of our Living Christmas Tree presentation this year. If anyone is still interested, please contact me and we will get you plugged into this wonderful ministry opportunity!

Worship

I want to personally thank you for the wonderful opportunity it is to lead this church in worship each and every week. Field Street is beyond blessed with numerous volunteers that spend countless hours preparing to help lead our church each week. I just want to encourage you as we join together each week in our corporate worship times to come prepared for the Lord to move in great and mighty ways. Be engaged in all aspects of our service; you never know how or when the Lord will speak to your heart. We are blessed at Field Street to have a pastor who spends countless hours crafting and preparing his sermons and teaching the scriptures to us. Pray that the Lord will be moving in wonderful ways this Sunday!

Blessings,

5th ANNIVERSARY RECEPTION FOR JENNIFER HOWINGTON

It's hard to believe that 5 years of ministry at FSBC have passed. Thank you, church family, for allowing me and my family the opportunity to serve alongside you. Thank you also for the wonderful reception and love offering. You made my family feel so loved! We look forward to many more years of service.

Our Preteen Fall Retreat in September was a great opportunity for our new 5th & 6th graders to get to know each other. We had a great time of fellowship, Bible study and FUN! A special thank you to Rick and Anne Deem for hosting this year!

Fall is definitely approaching and we look forward with anticipation to all that this season will bring. We are diligently making plans for our annual trunk or treat Trunk or Treat event which will be held on Sunday, October 30th from 6:00-7:30 p.m. in the northwest parking lot. Come prepared for a fun evening of candy, games, puppets, balloon animals and our annual hayride!! We are in need of extra hands to help man the booths and Bible Fellowship classes to host a trunk. Also, we are now accepting donations for bags of individually wrapped candies. If you would like to participate in any capacity or make a donation, please contact the church office.

October will begin our collection and distribution of shoe boxes for our annual Operation Christmas Child drive. In cooperation with Samaritan's Purse, it is our privilege to participate in providing school supplies, small toys, and clothes for those in need. Stay tuned for more details and opportunities to participate.

Student Ministry

The school year is off to a great start here with Field Street Student Ministry. As a Minister of Students I can't help but ask, where did September go? We are certainly in the midst of a busy and exciting season!

Our school year programming has officially begun, and we are running at a high level. On any given week, students have the opportunity to engage with God and others through small group Bible study, corporate worship, small group discipleship, leadership, and service opportunities.

The most rewarding aspect of ministry here at Field Street has been the evolution of the Student Ministry towards an Adult-Guided, Student-Led model of ministry. We have continued to build on the foundation here at home by creating more opportunities for students to step up in leadership, including but not limited to Youth Council. Field Street Student Ministry Youth Council meets once a month with the goal to be a driving force behind the vision and planning of all things related to the student ministry. Please pray for this group as they continue to lead out in this church!

As we look forward, there are a few things we are gearing up for here in the coming weeks and months. First, in early June, Field Street will be taking a group of people to the Dominican Republic on a family mission trip. I will be going on this trip as a student ministry liaison, and will have the opportunity to lead teenagers in ministering to the community in the Dominican Republic. At this time, we are asking for families to prayerfully consider joining us for this wonderful opportunity. There will be a short information interest meeting on October 16th. Stay tuned for more information regarding this meeting!

Senior Adult Ministry

JOYFUL SOUND. . . is off to a good start. We have several new members and we're excited about the new music for the fall and winter. It's certainly not "too late" to join this wonderful group. We meet each Tuesday morning from 9:30-10:30 in the choir room.

YOUNG AT HEART. . .is about to have their  "second meeting" of the fall. It will be Tuesday, October 11. Brian Tullos, the minister of music at Cana Baptist Church, will be our guest. We're looking forward to having him with us again and to hear him sing.

senior adults BY THE TIME. . . you receive this edition of the eFocus, I will have completed the first study in MABS. It was a study of the Kingdom of Heaven. In just a few weeks, I will begin the second study called "Lessons Learned in the University of Adversity." It is a study of the life of Joseph.

IN NOVEMBER. . . we will actually have "two" Young at Heart meetings. The first will be on the second Tuesday morning--November 8. Our special guest for that meeting will be Brent Shields, the worship pastor at Bethel Temple. The second meeting will be what we call our "Holiday Banquet" and the date is Tuesday night, November 22. Since this will take place two days before Thanksgiving, that will be our emphasis. We will eat our meal in the Family Life Center and then transition to the Worship Center for a service of thanksgiving and praise. It's going to be a wonderful night! More information will be forthcoming.
