The New Church Year Has Begun in Earnest. . .
What a joy it is to re-launch our ministries on both Sundays and Wednesdays, and everything in between. God has provided our needs for leadership in so many ministries, such as AWANA, Children's Choirs, Student Ministries, Men's and Ladies" Bible Studies, our Lord's Day gatherings, the Living Christmas Tree, Adult Choir, and our FSBC Praise Band, and so on. Praise God for this great time of the year in the lifecycle of the church. NOW is the opportune time to get on board in a fresh way. Try a Bible Fellowship Class on Sunday mornings! Come to Wednesday night prayer meeting/Bible study. Get involved somewhere! Find a ministry to engage and let God work in and through you to touch lives for His glory.

PBJ Groups Begin on Sunday, September 9. . .
Our PBJ Groups will gather again beginning Sunday, September 9. These home groups will meet five times in the fall (September 9, 23, October 14, 28, November 11) from 5:30 -7:00 p.m. You recall that PBJ stands for Prayer-Bible Study-Joy of being together. Please watch our worship bulletin this Sunday for locations of the groups. The PBJ Gatherings will be the extent of our Sunday night schedule of ministry for the foreseeable future. These groups will meet on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the months in the fall with the exception of the months of November and December. I would encourage you to consider seriously being a part of one of these PBJ groups.

New Sermon Series Launches. . .
Beginning Sunday, September 9, I plan to launch a new series of messages examining closely the book of Galatians. This epistle, written by Paul, is a must hear letter for the church today. We must guard the gospel-the good news of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ-with a renewed fervor and faithfulness.. This series of sermons will be of much value to Field Street Baptist Church as we seek to minister thoughtfully to and in a world that has some very different philosophies about religion, spirituality salvation, and Jesus. May God use this series to strengthen His church and increase our awe and worship of Jesus Christ.

Visions. . .

Finally, I would like to invite you to participate in our Leadership Training event set for September 30. We feel so strongly about this event, that we want to invite anyone within the church to come and participate. Each member of our staff is preparing to share details about our varying ministries. We want you to come! Would you consider coming from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on this special Sunday? We will serve a meal and you will be walking out of the door just before 7:00 p.m. We want to be a good steward of your time. Please prayerfully consider joining us for this time of sharing vision. We believe God is preparing us for a future that will build His church and bring glory to His great name.

 With much affection,

     John Hall, Pastor

Music Ministry

ONLY 14 REHEARSALS LEFT UNTIL
The Living Christmas Tree 2018!
It's not too late to jump in and sing on this year's Christmas Tree! We must have additional basses and tenors. If we are not able to recruit a few more voices we will be forced to simplify the presentation considerably.  Will you please consider joining us or inviting someone to sing with us who could help?

YOUTH CHOIR KICK-Off & MEETING

This Sunday, September 9, at 4:45 pm in the choir room I want to share about the Youth Choir Ministry at Field Street Baptist Church. After the meeting, students are encouraged to join their Covenant Groups beginning at 5:30 pm.

SAVE THE DATE NOW!

FEBRUARY 22-24, 2019--BAYLOR FESTIVAL OF YOUTH CHOIRS!

This is the most incredible opportunity for any student interested in Church Music in the country. This festival brings 200 different students 7th-12th grade together from over 20 churches to present an incredible worship concert in Jones Hall on the campus of Baylor University. As a director who has been taking students to this festival for 12 years, it is a profound experience difficult to put into words.

Any student 7th-12th grade will be blessed and enriched by the weekend long festival.  We stay at the Hampton Inn in Waco on Friday and Saturday nights. The weekend is filled with rehearsals, fun and crazy games, and incredible fellowship with other students and musicians.

Come Sunday, September 9, at 4:45 p.m. in the choir room for more information.

TECHNOLOGY MINISTRY

I need a couple of brilliant and creative minds with a brain wired for technology, marketing, and audio video. Field Street wants to take its online presence to the next level. I want to help facilitate this, but I need some more help. I don't have a marketing brain. I need someone who does. If you are the person I am praying to help fill this need, please email me at [email protected]

Children's Ministry

It's hard to believe that 7 years ago this month, I began my ministry journey here at Field Street! Thank you, church family, for allowing me and my family the opportunity to serve alongside you. We look forward to many more years of service here at FSBC!

Preteen Retreat for 5th & 6th Grades AND 1st Grade Promotion Breakfast

Our August Preteen Retreat was a great opportunity for our new 5th & 6th graders to get to know each other. We had a great time of fellowship, Bible study and FUN! A special thank you to Rick and Anne Deem for hosting this year!

Our third annual 1st Grade Breakfast  was held on Promotion Sunday this year! Nine of our first graders and their families participated. Each child was presented with a new Bible. This was a meaningful time for these families as we celebrated this special milestone.

Our Children's Choirs and AWANA have officially begun! It's not too late to register your child. Children's Choirs meet from 6:00-6:40 p.m. and AWANA meets from 6:40-8:00 p.m. each Wednesday night.

It's never too early to begin purchasing items for our annual Operation Christmas Child drive. In cooperation with Samaritan's Purse, it is our privilege to participate in providing school supplies, small toys, and clothes for children around the world. Stay tuned for more details and opportunities to participate.

A big WELCOME to Kathy Hood who is serving as our new ELC Director this year! Kathy has served faithfully, for a number of years, as one of our PreK teachers. We are blessed to have her on our team and so grateful for the leadership she is already providing.

THANK YOU!

ADOPT-A-SENIOR
Adopt-a-Senior is your opportunity to continue an investment in our graduating seniors as they head off to college. Some of our Bible Fellowship classes have selected one of our 2018 graduating seniors to "adopt." They are committing to follow up with them during their first year away. Follow up can include, but is not limited to, letters of encouragement, sending gift cards, and prayer. If you would like to be a part of this unique opportunity, contact the church office for more information.

Mission Statement: Teaching students to love, pursue, and worship Jesus while leading others to do the same.

Senior Adult Ministry

ALMOST. . .by the time you open up the September eFocus, lots of things will have had their beginning.

MABS (Monday Afternoon Bible Study) will begin on Monday afternoon, September 10,  with a five-week study in 2 Peter entitled a "A Man Called Peter." This would be Peter's final opportunity before he went to be with the Lord as a prisoner of Rome, but more importantly as a "bond servant" of His Lord and Master. His message to these early believers is as relevant today as it was then.  MABS meets from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. in room 114.

9/11. . . I remember exactly where I was on Tuesday, September 11, 2001. What a day! The memory and horror of that day will be forever etched in my mind. Since that day, September 11 has been a day of remembrance for all Americans. In many ways, the day also was a time that marked a "new beginning" for our country. Our country had been "invaded" and security measures would reach heights we would have never expected.

It is interesting that this September 11 will also mark a time of "beginning again" here at Field Street. It will be a time of "beginning again" for. . .

JOYFUL SOUND. . .our first choir rehearsal for the fall. I'm excited about the "new" music and the "new" opportunities for this choir. Our rehearsals are in the choir room on Tuesday mornings from 9:30-10:30 a.m. New singers are always. . .WELCOME!

YOUNG AT HEART. . .Join us at 10:45 a.m. in the Family Life Center for a time of fellowship prior to our program that begins at 11:00 a.m. Our special guest for this first meeting will be Billy Woods, our new music minister. The program will be followed by a wonderful lunch. We have a great schedule for the fall months. Hope you will join us!
