Help Others by Sharing Your FSG Story

Has FSG helped you or a loved one? Sharing your story, even anonymously, could inspire others to reach out. Your experience may also help reduce mental health stigma, encourage others to seek care, or support our fundraising efforts to provide free and reduced-cost services.

Family Service of Glencoe invites current and former clients to share their stories for our website, annual report, or fundraising appeals. With your permission, your story could even be featured at Glencoe Under the Stars.

Upcoming and Ongoing Programs

For parents of children Pre-K through grade 12 (open to all schools/school districts)

Join your peers in conversation about the universal challenges we face as parents. FSG clinicians will facilitate discussions relevant to your child’s age and development.

The session will be an open discussion without a set topic. We encourage you to bring your ideas on any concerns you'd like to address. Simply fill out a topic card and drop it in our topic basket, and the FSG clinician will kick off the conversation!

Some ideas for discussion:

Are my kids overscheduled?

How can I help them cope with worries?

What steps can I take to foster my child’s independence?

What’s my role in helping them with social concerns?

How much screen time is too much?

Is my child being bullied, or is it social conflict, and how do I manage this with them?

In the community

Reach Out and Read

FSG's Reach Out and Read's winter season concluded this week, having engaged members of our community from across generations.

A partnership with Glencoe's School District 35, Reach Out and Read was developed to help young readers build their confidence in reading, support healthy reading habits, and create intergenerational connections along the way. Each session, students select a book to read to their senior buddy.

We are grateful for the senior adult volunteers who participated this winter and look forward to a lively and enriching spring season.

If you'd like to participate in the next session of Reach Out and Read, please contact Emily Mysel, LCSW, FSG Senior Program Manager at emily@familyserviceofglencoe.org or 847-461-1668.

D35 Family Belonging Night: Sharing Our Stories

Various service organizations gathered on March 11th at Central School in Glencoe to greet community members and open channels for more conversation. Alex Ochoa, FSG Outreach & Intake Manager, represented FSG at the fair and engaged attendees in celebrating their uniqueness and contributions to our community, learning more about FSG, and finding ways to get involved.

Visitors to our table enjoyed two fun and creative projects for their children: blank cardboard on which they wrote positive messages with paint markers and an opportunity to make their own fidget!

We look forward to future collaboration with D35 where we can celebrate all the unique things that make our community so special.

You can make an impact in your community today!

If you prioritize affordable and accessible mental health and social services for everyone in your community, then we deeply appreciate your support.
