Help Others by Sharing Your FSG Story

Has FSG helped you or a loved one? Sharing your story, anonymously or in person, could inspire others to reach out. Your experience may also help reduce mental health stigma, encourage others to seek care, or support our fundraising efforts to provide free and reduced-cost services.

Family Service of Glencoe invites current and former clients to share their stories for our website, annual report, or fundraising appeals. With your permission, your story could even be featured at Glencoe Under the Stars.

To find out more about sharing your story, contact Kelly Clark, Manager of Development & Communications at 847-461-1669 or kelly@familyserviceofglencoe.org.

This Week is National Eating Disorders Awareness Week

This week is National Eating Disorders Awareness Week, a time to increase awareness, improve access to resources, and encourage early detection.

Recognizing early signs of an eating disorder is crucial, as early intervention boosts long-term recovery chances.

What are some warning signs that may be missed early on? We invite you to take this brief screen to help you determine if it’s time to seek professional help.

Screening Tool

Is your college student struggling with an eating disorder?

As we prepare for spring break visits from our children, it's important to familiarize yourself with the warning signs you need to know.

Upcoming and Ongoing Programs

For parents of children Pre-K through grade 12 (open to all schools/school districts)

Join your peers in conversation about the universal challenges we face as parents. FSG clinicians will facilitate discussions relevant to your child’s age and development.

The session will be an open discussion without a set topic. We encourage you to bring your ideas on any concerns you'd like to address. Simply fill out a topic card and drop it in our topic basket, and the FSG clinician will kick off the conversation!

Some ideas for discussion:

Are my kids overscheduled?

How can I help them cope with worries?

What steps can I take to foster my child’s independence?

What’s my role in helping them with social concerns?

How much screen time is too much?

Is my child being bullied, or is it social conflict, and how do I manage this with them?
