We have made steady progress over the past few years in increasing our air service access and SUN air travelers have responded.
WINTER DIVERSION BUSING PROGRAM RUNS NOV 1 - APRIL 15
Fly Sun Valley Alliance has once teamed up with the airlines and Caldwell Transportation Company to enhance the diversion busing program, including newer WIFI enabled motorcoaches, helpful airport hosts, on-call drivers and more. We are continuing to collectively work to make this experience as pleasant as possible for SUN air travelers. And most importantly, you do get to your destination! We are very fortunate here in Sun Valley - there are only a few airports in the US where airlines offer this extraordinary level of service for travelers impact by weather.
IMPORTANT TRAVELER TIPS:
If you are traveling from SUN this winter, please make sure you are informed about the diversion busing procedures for each SUN airline. Here are some key tips:
Always make sure that your airline reservation record has both an email and a cell phone contact that you can be reached at while traveling. This is what the airlines use to alert passengers in advance of a change in flight status and let them know what time to get to the SUN airport in Hailey to catch the bus transportation to an alternative airport if the flight is going to be diverted.
Always call the local SUN weather hotline for your airline well in advance of your flight to confirm flight and busing status. (4-6 hours before scheduled departure, depending on airline). Please listen CAREFULLY to the information provided and plan accordingly.

It's easy to think you have plenty of time to check-in at our convenient little airport, but if you don't arrive at the airport
AT LEAST 90 MINUTES (2 HOURS IS RECOMMENDED) before your scheduled flight departure, you may be at risk of missing your flight, especially with the busy holiday and winter season upon us.
