SUN SUMMER/FALL FLIGHTS ANNOUNCED

MAY: Delta has one daily flight to/from SLC

JUNE - SEPTEMBER:
While SUN will have fewer flights this summer, we are pleased to be able to maintain service to all of our major nonstop flight markets. Sun Valley will remain safely and easily accessible for  those who wish to travel here or elsewhere from here.

Due to anticipated lower passenger demand resulting from COVID-19 concerns, the reduced SUN flight schedule includes later start dates for most flights and less frequency. The summer SUN service schedule is as follows:
  • Alaska SEA - daily June 25-Sept 7; 3x week Sept 7-30
  • United LAX - 5x week (Wed-Sun), June 25 - Sept 7
  • United DEN - daily June 20-22, June 25 - Sept 7
  • United SFO - 2x week (Sat & Sun), July 11 - Sept 7
  • Delta SLC - daily flights throughout summer and fall

TRAVEL UPDATES for AIR TRAVELERS IN THIS NEW ENVIRONMENT

IDAHO TRAVEL
As of May 16, Idaho entered Phase 2 of its 4 Phase Idaho Rebounds plan, which is based on a carefully phased reopening of business and gathering dependent on the successful meeting of key COVID-19 health metrics. For travelers, this means out-of-state travelers may come to Idaho without a 14 day self-quarantine if they are coming from an area with a low amount of COVID-19 cases or no community spread.( Check CDC map here). Otherwise, May 30 is anticipated to be the start date of Phase 3, when all visitors can come to Idaho with no self-quarantine required.

In all stages of Idaho Rebounds individuals should continue to:
  • Engage in physical distancing of at least six feet
  • Wear face coverings in public places
  • Stay home if sick
  • Practice good hand hygiene
  • Cover coughs and sneezes
  • Disinfect surfaces and objects regularly
Our Wood River Valley community has done a fantastic job of 'crushing the curve' and we look forward to maintaining that in the months ahead with careful adherence to health and safety guidelines and protocols, both at our businesses and among our local residents and visitors. Please help keep Sun Valley safe for all by doing your part!

AIRLINE TRAVEL
I ncreased personal health safety in this era of COVID-19 is important to both airlines and air travelers. Here are some updates on what to expect when traveling by air this summer and fall.

Masks Required: All SUN airlines, United, Delta and Alaska, are now requiring face masks for all passengers, crew and employees. TSA also now requires that all passengers in line for screening wear a mask.

THANK YOU BETTY!
The intrepid Betty Grant (photo left) is 'hanging up her clipboards' after 6 years of collecting air passengers surveys for FSVA at the Friedman Memorial Airport and we'd like to thank her for a job superbly done.

Her vivacious, outgoing personality was perfect for interacting with departing airport passengers  as she easily convinced them to take the survey so we could collect data to help us continue to improve air service and the airport.  Betty, a long-time local of 40+ years, loved this job and meeting all of our air travelers, and is a fabulous ambassador for our community. But we know she'll stay actively engaged as a volunteer in many other local organizations and events that she enjoys and supports.

Thank you Betty, for your years of enthusiastic service for FSVA - we so appreciate you!

FSVA will continue to collect air passenger surveys this summer via an alternative method that will limit personal interaction in light of new COVID-19 social distancing and safety guidelines.

SUN AIRPORT MAINTENANCE PROJECT SET FOR EARLY JUNE

From June 1-6 the SUN airport will be performing basic maintenance on various airport pavements including the runway, aircraft parking aprons and taxi lanes. Runway closures will be limited and will not impact airline flight schedules. Other closure will result in reduced access to general aviation parking aprons, associated taxi lanes and hangars. Additional information regarding apron and taxi lane closures are forthcoming to impacted tenants.  More info HERE
