We long for peace in our hearts and peace in our world. Wars, division, family conflict, and lack of self-love all come from hearts at war that keep us from experiencing peace. Peace doesn't just happen; it comes through attentive and intentional action by people whose own hearts are at peace. Jesus calls us to be peacemakers – bringers of peace – and he called peacemakers blessed. This Sunday, we will begin a new worship series focused on spreading peace and kindness, as the launch of a yearlong "Do Unto Others" Peace & Kindness Initiative at FUMC. Join us on Sunday as we discover together the way to have a "heart at peace.

Help Celebrate Wayne!

Wayne Monroe is retiring at the end of the month, after 14 years on our staff. He has been our security person, a welcoming presence and giver of hospitality, he's set up thousands of chairs and tables to prepare our spaces for worship and events, he's been our coffee and fellowship provider on Sunday mornings, and part of the facilities team that repairs and takes care of our church property. We will all miss him! There will be a drop-in reception for Wayne on Sunday, January 21, in the Gettman Room between the two worship services, when you can personally thank Wayne and wish him well. The Staff-Parish Relations Committee is also collecting a Love Offering for Wayne, concluding this Sunday, as a parting gift. If you'd like to contribute to the Love Offering you can do so here (just select the dedicate gift box and click Wayne) or during this Sunday's Worship, mark your contribution as "Love Offering for Wayne."

A Spiritual Examen for the New Year

John Wesley often used reflection on these questions as a way to examine and deepen his faith. You may find it helpful too, as we begin the new year.

2024 Diaper Drive

This February we will have our third DIAPER DRIVE to show our LOVE for the young children of Henderson County by donating diapers and wipes to support the Children & Family Resource Center diaper distribution program. The need for diapers keeps increasing, so we are increasing our goal this year to 12,000. Each year we have surpassed our goal and I know FUMC can do it again this year!

The Children and Family Resource Center (CFRC) saw an increase of 170 clients in 2023. They serve roughly 30-40 clients each week on average, but have served as many as 75 a week. On average nearly 180 children are served each month which equals an average of 9,000 diapers each month (360 bundles of 25). This average means that approximately 108,000 diapers were given out in 2023. This program would not be able to function without community partner donations and diaper drives.

Community Vet Clinic

This group of ladies enjoy attending the Chair Yoga class

Chair Yoga allows you to perform yoga poses while seated, or use of a chair. Chair Yoga offers the same benefits as traditional yoga, such as alignment, stretching, boosting strength, balance, rotations and breathing techniques. We work on so many different areas of our body. We want to stay fit to be able to keep doing what we love to do.
