Welcome Daviss King
We celebrate and welcome Daviss King as our new Assistant to the Pastors! In this part-time position, Daviss will take on a variety of ministerial endeavors in administration and congregational care. We are grateful for the experience in FUMC ministries and the wealth of relationships within the congregation that he brings to this new role.
Safe Gatherings Certifications
Do you still need to be safety certified? If you're not already, but you want to work in ministry with children, youth, or vulnerable adults, then the answer is yes! This includes Sunday School, mission trips, care ministries, and chaperoning/driving. Parents of children and youth are highly encouraged to get certified. The church covers the cost, but our cost is going up 50% in January, so now's the time to do it. Visit our Conference Safety webpage to find out how, or contact Safety Policy Administrator Emily Buchanan at [email protected].

Having served churches throughout the conference, she is now appointed as the Assistant to the Bishop. In June, she was elected to lead the Rio Texas delegation to the 2020 General Conference in Minneapolis, MN. In addition, Rev. September Mission Emphasis
Global Mission Fellows
$30 buys several cups of fancy coffee—or $30 invested in the Global Mission Fellows program transforms a young adult's life. Global Mission Fellows, ages 20-30, serve in social justice ministries across the country or internationally. They work alongside community organizations on hunger and poverty, global health, migration, and education issues. FUMC partners with the GMF program, a ministry of The United Methodist Church. Annually in September, we have the opportunity to transform a life by giving $30—or whatever amount we choose—at the altar rail, in the offering plate, or at the church office.
