Grant Live Event - June 8th
In early June we hosted a live announcement of our 2021 grant recipients! Special thank you to our featured speaker First Lady and Honorary Board Member, Tracey Quillen Carney. We also heard from Ali’Shah Watson and members of her team at the Cultural Restoration Project, Inc. A 2021 grant recipient, the FFW grant will fund an all-girls Poetry, Prose, and Power empowerment program for teen girls this summer. Watch this short film of last year’s talented program. Visit the Fund for Women webpage to learn more about 2021 grant recipients and to watch a recording from the webinar.
Collaborative Grant Update:
$25,000 to Delaware Girls Circles
The Fund for Women recently released the third payment of $25,000 to Delaware Girls Circles (DGC). DGC is a private, not-for-profit collaboration funded by the FFW, whose purpose is to provide assistance and support to high school girls (grades 9-12) and their adult caregivers, resulting in increased and on-time high school graduation rates. Begun in 2018 as a special collaboration in honor of its 25th anniversary, DGC has been awarded $75,000 in grants from the FFW over the past three years. Read the full press release here.
Changing of the Guards: Farewell & Welcome!
In early July the FFW hosted the “changing of the guards” and wished a fond farewell to several of our dedicated board members ending their term. Thank you for your contribution and service. The Board welcomed Melissa Micek, Jennifer Vitak, Jenn Sonson, and Monica Shockley-Porter to their new roles. They also announced the transition of Kathy Kiernan and Cynthia Carter-Wedgewood to new Board Roles as Advancement and Governance Chair (respectively).
