FUPC PW - 1st Quarter Mission Project
Hello FUPC PW,

Our 1st Quarter Mission and Outreach Project is our church-wide initiative, Room In the Inn , sponsored by our Deacon Board. Here is some information about this outreach ministry.

Room In The Inn History
Since 1996, the Urban Ministry Center has partnered with colleges and congregations of many faiths to open their facilities to provide shelter and food for homeless people during the winter months, December 1 – March 31. Each site offers a warm, safe place to sleep, serves a meal, and then returns guests the following morning to uptown Charlotte. The program offers a unique way for people of faith to become directly involved with individuals who are homeless. The basic goal is to keep homeless people from freezing on cold winter nights. A greater goal is to provide a more personal relationship to homeless people, at least for a night, and to foster a deeper understanding of the depth and complexity of the issue. The next date for our church to host Room In The Inn will be the weekend of March 13th (Friday) and March 14th (Saturday).

To support this effort, we are encouraging each member of the FUPC PW to do any of the following:
  • Friday, March 13th @ 10:00 am - Assist with Bed Set Up: assistance will be needed with setting up approximately 10 to 12 beds for our expected guests in the Education Building. If you would like to assist with this effort, please contact Elder Mabel Williams @ 704-596-3758.
  • Friday, March 13th @ 5:30 pm - Serve Dinner: assistance will be needed with serving a prepared dinner meal for our guests. If you would like to assist with this effort, please contact Elder Renea Stitt @ (704) 458-7607.
  • Saturday, March 14th @ 8:00 am - Provide/Serve Breakfast: assistance will be needed with providing and/or serving breakfast to our guests for the Deacon Board's Quarterly Breakfast initiative. If you would like to assist with this effort, please contact Deacon Helen Hairston @ 828 215 8460.
Remember, this is a church-wide outreach mission and your continued support is greatly needed. Thank you in advance for your support of this ministry on behalf of homeless men in our community..

Thank you,
Deacon Daphne Brown
