Call to Action: Comment on the Rescission of the Roadless Rule

The U.S. Forest Service has proposed rescinding the 2001 Roadless Area Conservation Rule, which protects approximately 44.7 million acres of inventoried roadless areas on National Forest System lands from most new road construction and certain timber-harvesting activities.

The Forest Service’s reasoning? That removing these protections would make it easier for firefighters to access currently roadless areas during wildfires.

We strongly oppose this approach. More roads do not mean fewer fires. Roads can increase human access, and with it, the risk of human-caused ignitions, while fragmenting some of our wildest and most intact forests.

You can still make your voice heard. Join the 200+ advocates who have already submitted comments opposing the rescission using our easy-to-use MadLib! Comments close October 6, 2026.

Or you can write your comment directly on the public commenting website here.

Send us stories and pictures of your worst fireline meals!

Firefighters deserve nutritious meals on the fireline. We're in the early stages of a campaign to get better nutrition for those protecting our communities during wildfire season. We need your help; real firefighter stories and food photos are the most compelling way to promote this campaign!

Send us your bad nutrition stories and photos to madison@fusee.org

Living with Fire Film Festival

Thank you so much for your support of our new film The Fire Practitioners! We sold out the Art House in Eugene with our premiere showing of the film along with partner documentary films and Q&A. Art House hosted a second night of screening the films the same week and we hosted a virtual showing and Q&A the following week. We will eventually release The Fire Practitioners online, so stay tuned. Thanks for showing up for beneficial fire! 🔥

Warner Creek 30th Anniversary Celebration

We had a great time celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the success of the Warner Creek timber sale blockade. Activists shared stories and lessons learned. We were entertained with live music and archival photos and art. We also had a separate night showing of PickAxe, a documentary produced about the blockade. Thanks to all who came out to celebrate and connect and to the WOW Hall for hosting both of these events! 🌲

Why I Support FUSEE

“Fire and fire effects have always been a part of life on Earth, and are certainly in the news these days. A culturally deep and science-based understanding of fire is absolutely necessary. Supporting wildland firefighters, including those using prescribed fire in fire dependent ecological communities, is critical to all of our futures. As a wildlife biologist, retired fire district chief, and long-time prescribed fire practitioner, I am happy to support FUSEE. Simply put - FUSEE gets it!”

- Paul B., Prescribed Fire Council Director

We gladly accept donations through Donor Advised Funds (DAFs). You will need to provide your DAF sponsor with our information: Firefighters United for Safety, Ethics and Ecology (FUSEE), EIN 20-1094311, and address 2852 Willamette #125, Eugene, OR 97405.
