The Enamelist Society Featured Member - Jeanie Pratt
From her website:

" Jeanie Pratt works as studio artist on the Central Coast of California. She has been a fiber artist since learning to weave in the San Francisco Bay Area in the early 1970’s and more recently has exchanged wire for yarn as the “fiber” of choice. Her metals education can be described as self-directed as she has sought out workshops and classes with a number of distinguished instructors. She has exhibited nationally in galleries, museums and shows. She currently shows at Mobilia Gallery in Cambridge, MA."

The Art of Fine Enameling - Karen L. Cohen
The Enamelist Society member Karen L. Cohen will have the second edition of her well received book, The Art of Fine Enameling, released on Nov 1, 2019. She’s been working hard for over a year to bring out this totally revamped enhanced edition. It includes contributions from about 170 enamelists, 10 new contemporary projects, many mini-projects (not full step by step by enough info to do them) and a very extensive section on supplements and add-ons including glow powder, mica pens and enameling with cat hair. Most projects have a set of variations and a technique gallery to show how other artists creating with that technique do things differently, thus expanding the reader’s learning experience. In addition, the comprehensive trouble shooting section has been updated and expanded. Lastly, there are about 450 finished enamels, this time used to illustrate a point being discussed in the text (not just in general galleries).

The website says paperback but we are assured it is hard cover! Click here for more information
The Practice in Painting - Gillie Hoyte Byrom

R ichly illustrated, this is the only book devoted to onglaze vitreous enamel painting. Handsome but practical 152-page hardback - every page bursts with technique while a unique troubleshooting section gives solutions at every stage and level of expertise.

Gillie's life's work, skills and passion for this truly precious and rare art form is just as relevant a resource for the aspiring newcomer as for the advanced practitioner.

The Enamelist Society Conference

We are just a few months away from the 2019 Conference! All of our pre- and post-Conference Workshops have been filled (except for some student spots), thank you to everyone that has signed up!!

The 2019 Conference, titled Alchemy5, will be similar to previous conferences; the morning sessions filled with a keynote, panels, speakers and a general membership meeting. The afternoons consist of "breakout" sessions where multiple presentations and/or demonstrations on various technical or marketing topics are held every hour. Evening events include an opening reception for the Exhibitions, our Saturday night auctions and the Sunday night closing party. The ever popular pin swap begins as attendees arrive and a vendor's area will be available throughout the conference to browse and purchase enamel related items and books.

We hope to see everyone there!
