"On Needing Each Other"
Last week's focus was on listening carefully to ourselves - enough to allow our minds and hearts to be changed. This week's topic is the other side of that practice: how listening intently to the people around you can lead to transformative change, too.

Join us for online worship at uusociety.org/worship-and-music/online-sunday-worship at 10 a.m. All services are also available on our YouTube channel

Pumpkin Delivery Needed!
Erika Reif, Director of Lifespan Faith Development

We need individuals or families who would enjoy spreading some seasonal cheer to deliver specially decorated pumpkins to some fellow FUUSBers, between 10/22 and 10/29. Claim a name or several from the list, give them a call in advance to find out the best way to safely make the drop, and then enjoy the opportunity to connect in the real world, even if only a wave through a window. To help, contact Erika: [email protected] or 990-2006.

Racial Justice Team Walking Tour - Oct. 24
Rescheduled from Oct. 17:
African American History at Lakeview Cemetery - October 24, 1:30-3 p.m.

This tour acquaints you with some of the African descended people in Lakeview Cemetery... Meet barbers, housekeepers, soldiers, market owners and others to reveal a small but vibrant black community in the Queen City during the 19th and 20th centuries. Presented by Elise Guyette, author of Discovering Black Vermont: African American Farmers in Hinesburg, 1790-1890. Meet at the entrance to Lakeview (Burlington City) Cemetery, 455 North Ave.

Sign up with Linda Cooper, [email protected] or 922-7554. Maximum 20 people on the tour, minimum age of 14. Plan to wear a mask and keep a 6 foot distance from others.

Election Night Blues?
orange_mug.jpg Christina Fulton, Director of Operations & Finance

Many of us are not looking forward to sitting at home on election night. We're pretty sure that we won't have any announcement of a winner, so what will it be like? Well, for a little while that night you can be with friends. FUUSB will have a Tuesday Night Get Together on Zoom! Join us on Tuesday, November 3 from 7:30-9 p.m. Grab some hot cocoa, tea, wine, whatever, and join us for some time to just be together. Zoom link: bit.ly/34kzie1

How to Request a Check in the Time of COVID
checkbook-pen.jpg Christina Fulton, Director of Operations & Finance

Now that the new congregational year has begun, I've started to get lots of emails about how to request a payment or reimbursement. Many of you are used to completing the small pink check request form, but now that you can't pick one up in the office, what do you do? Well thanks to Mary, we now have an online check request form on our website! uusociety.org/members/forms

So if you need to pay someone or be reimbursed for something, you can complete this online form (which is actually still pink!) and click on Submit. The request will be sent to Christina who will process it on Thursday. Please be aware that we are no longer cutting actual checks, but are paying through our bank online. Payments will be mailed from our bank to the person, so we must have a good mailing address on the form. If you have any questions about this process, please contact Christina at [email protected]

FUUSB Autumn Auction
Dan House, FUUSB Board of Trustees President

The Autumn Auction is upon us. Our goal with the auction is always to bring us together, so we are looking for donations that build community... food, gatherings (appropriately safe), services, arts and crafts, and gift certificates that support our larger community as well. So please think about what you can do or give to connect to others. We can accept donations for the auction until the first week of November. All bidding will be online from November 7 to 21You can go to the website now to register to bid and see the generous items that have already been donated, and come back to see the new additions. The auction website is: auctria.com/auction/FUUSBtogether

If you have any questions or wish to donate, please email [email protected]. We'll add your donation to the website. The holiday wreath sale will also be part of the auction.

Thank you for helping us keep this tradition and bring our community together in fun, faith, and fellowship.

Reminder: Guide to Online Giving
Christina Fulton, Director of Operations & Finance

Many of you have been deciding to make your pledge and other gifts to the Society online. This is a wonderful idea that we support wholeheartedly. Giving online is safe and cuts down on administrative time processing checks. If you're considering this way of giving, but you're still a bit confused, here are the basics:

Where to set up your gift - If you are a member and have a Realm account, just log in to your account and click on Giving. From there you can either make a one-time gift or set up automatic payments. If you do not have a Realm account, you can make online gifts from our website: uusociety.org/donate

How to make sure your gift is credited to the right fund - When you set up online giving, there are several funds to choose from. Please click here for a guide, and answers to frequently-asked questions!

If you ever have questions about online giving, please contact Christina at [email protected]Thank you so much for your generosity and support of FUUSB!

Reminder: Online Joys & Sorrows Form
purple-water-flowers.jpg
An online Joys & Sorrows submission form is available at this link, and in each week's eNews (in the left margin). Joys & Sorrows will be shared in our Sunday services as much as possible. Since online services are available publicly on the FUUSB YouTube channel, we will not read full names or personal details. Thank you!
