…group silence is a type of communion, using both the religious and secular meaning of the word. We are taking sustenance and solace from each other, receiving a blessing of the spirit. We are also communing together, experiencing community, in silence with each other. We are all focused on becoming present to ourselves so that we can become present to others.

Remembering Loved Ones during Service - Dec. 31, 2023


On Sunday Dec 31, we will have an opportunity to remember loved ones, friends, and members of our community who have died in December of years past but who are still with us in spirit. They include:

In Memoriam

We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Emilie Kaden, who died on December 20, 2023 from metastatic lung cancer. Emilie leaves behind her life partner of 37 years, Nancy Tobias; two adored sons, Joshua and Matthew Kaden, two devoted daughters-in-law, Giulia Cox and Lee Rotert; and her dear brother-in-law, Norman Klath.


A funeral service will take place Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at 1pm in the chapel at Newton Cemetery, 791 Walnut Street, Newton Centre, MA 02459. Interment will follow the chapel service. Attendees may choose to accompany Emilie's family to the graveside.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Emilie's name to Partners in Health.

Memorial for Mary White

Sat., January 6, 2024 at 11am


We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mary White, who passed away on November 25th after a long and extraordinary battle with brain cancer. A reception will follow the memorial. View her obituary.

Now that the Holiday Fair has come to a very successful close, it’s time to think about the next community event - The FUUSN Community Fair! It’s been a while since we had all our groups and committees showcase their work, and we’d like to invite your group to have a table and/or give a talk on Sunday, January 14, 2024.

Remember Club Fairs from your school days? FUUSN is hosting its FUUSN Community Expo on Sunday, Jan. 14 during coffee hour. Come and find out what you don’t know yet about your community!

Racial Justice Book Clubs Forming


Groups at FUUSN will discuss the book Nice Racism, by Robin DiAngelo. One group will meet in person at FUUSN on Sundays from 12-2 PM (January 21st, 28th, and February 11th), and another will meet on Zoom on Tuesday evenings from 7-9 PM (January 23rd and 30th, and February 6th). Stop by the Racial Justice Ministry table at coffee hour or email Meg Holland.
