Exploring the West

Freshman Overnight Retreat

The Class of 2028 will be venturing to Bent’s Old Fort and the Sand Creek Massacre site as part of an overnight retreat from Wednesday, Oct. 9 through Thursday, Oct. 10. Students will depart from campus at 8:45am on Oct. 9 and return by 3:30pm on Oct. 10. During the retreat, they will visit Bent’s Old Fort to explore cultural interactions between Native American tribes, Mexican and Spanish settlers, French fur trappers, and early Anglo settlers. Meanwhile, the Sand Creek Massacre site will enable students to reflect on key moments in our nation's history. Parents / guardians should be on the lookout for an email containing additional information, including the overnight packing list.
