Last month, your Chamber President, Cindy Larsen, and Vice President of Marketing, Carla Flanders, took a field trip to Macomb County to exchange information about community image and promotion on behalf of the
Watch Us Go Campaign.
Both organizations took advantage of this opportunity to promote community assets. Your Chamber staff toured Macomb County and were most impressed with the friendliness of the people. “We hope our Muskegon STAR! Program is promoting that kind of community friendliness,” said Larsen.

Your Chamber has been working with MATS and the Muskegon County Airport to connect Muskegon Lakeshore businesses and local transportation providers.
The goal is for employers to know what transportation resources are available to employees and make it easy for workers to get to work!

Cruise Ship Season is Done....What's Next?!?
|
The last ship of the season docked at the Port of Muskegon on Sunday, September 2.
There were 10 port of calls this summer, which exposed over 2,000 passengers and crew to beautiful Muskegon for the first time. Their overwhelming response was nothing but positive.
We heard things like, "The people are so friendly", "Your city is so clean", "We love the community gardens", "The architecture is beautiful", and "We want to live here".
Pearl Seas Cruises
has already confirmed another 10 stops at the Port of Muskegon in 2019. In addition, there are 2 stops scheduled for
Le Champlain
and potential for even more stops in 2020.

Hist-o-gram Stories:
1963
|
In order to improve the truck and visitor travel time, the Chamber lobbied for the extension of the I-96 interstate highway connecting Muskegon to the Detroit area, focusing on what is presently known as Seaway Drive.
Construction on this $20,500,000 project began in fall 1962 and was completed by late 1963.
