Stolen Shakespeare Guild Presents Rodgers & Hammerstein's State Fair!
July 8 - 24, 2016
Set against the colorful backdrop of an American heartland tradition, STATE FAIR travels with the Frake family as they leave behind the routine of the farm for three days of adventure at the annual Iowa State Fair. Mom and Pop have their hearts set on blue ribbons while their daughter and son find romance and heartbreak on the midway. Set to the magical strains of an Academy Award-winning score and augmented by other titles from the Rodgers and Hammerstein songbook, STATE FAIR is the kind of warm-hearted family entertainment only Rodgers & Hammerstein could deliver!
The show features music by Richard Rodgers; Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II; Book by Tom Briggs and Louis Mattioli; and based on the screenplay by Oscar Hammerstein II and the novel by Phil Stong. The production is directed by Lauren and Jason Morgan with choreography by Karen Matheny.

Fort Worth Swing Dance Syndicate
Fort Worth Swing Dance Syndicate hosts dances and classes every Thursday in May! Beginner & Intermediate lessons start at 8:00pm, and then dance until 11:30pm to swingin' tunes with a live DJ! Critical Writing in the Visual Arts July 19, 2016; 7pm
To accompany the Selections exhibition, FWADA is pleased to host a panel discussion on July 19th at 7pm at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center. Moderated by artist, curator and writer Christopher Blay, speakers will focus on critical writing in visual arts and consider how and why new art writing should be encouraged in Dallas-Fort Worth. The Costumed Model with Julie Wende
July 15, 2016: 6:00pm - 9:00pm July 16, 2016: 10:00am - 2:00pm
Come and paint in any medium, the costumed model with portraitist Julie Wende. The class will focus on lighting the model and painting in a high key, with emphasis on loose brush work. Payment of $80 for members or $100 for non-members MUST accompany sign-up ONLINE or by credit card, by phone, or payment in advance in person.

This class is aimed at the beginning and intermediate level. Emphasis will be on
developing and engaging visual perception to see the human form in terms of
unique configuration. Participants learn and practice exercises in gesture,
contour, shape, proportion, value, and expression. Some structure and anatomy
will be presented. Poses vary in length from the quick study to the more finished
drawing. All work done from live unclothed model. $190 for 5 sessions.

Intro to Instagram and Facebook Marketing with Matthew Miller & Ruth Meharg

In this information age, a knowledge of communication technology can serve an artist well in their quest to find recognition for their work. The Intro to Instagram or Facebook Marketing will serve as a standalone class for people who want to learn how to use these two platforms to sell and spread word about their art. $25 TAC members/$30 Non-TAC members. The Fort Worth Community Arts Center, a City-owned facility, was established in October 2002
by the Fort Worth City Council. The Arts Council of Fort Worth & Tarrant County manages the Arts Center.
The FWCAC includes two theatres; nine art galleries; office space for arts organizations and public areas
for rental by other non-profit organizations, corporate and special events.
