FWD from VDOT: Overnight Closures of I-66 West at I-495 Interchange for Overhead Bridge Work This Weekend, October 23-25

FAIRFAX – I-66 West near I-495 will be closed during the overnight hours, Friday, October 23, through Sunday, October 25, for crews to lift bridge beams in place for a new I-66 Express Lanes ramp. Traffic will be detoured using I-495 and the Route 50 Interchange.

Drivers should expect delays if traveling in this area during these times and consider using alternate routes.

Details include:

Friday, October 23, and Saturday, October 24: 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Sunday, October 25: 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.

I-66 West at I-495

I-66 West will be closed Friday, October 23, and Saturday, October 24, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly, and Sunday night, October 25, from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.
Traffic will be detoured to I-495 South, exit to Route 50 East, stay to the right and follow signs to I-495 North, then follow signs to I-66 West.

All lanes will open by 6 a.m. (4 a.m. Monday morning, October 25).

Message boards on I-66 are providing advance notice of lane closures and traffic stoppages.

All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
