University leadership recently announced a FY2024 hiring pause, as part of the ongoing Budget Optimization Initiative.
As part of this pause, all salary and hiring actions for benefit-eligible faculty and staff positions require Admin Council review and approval before they can be processed. At this time, the hiring pause does not impact hiring or personnel actions for non-benefit eligible positions including adjuncts, temporary employees, graduate assistants, student employees or CPIs, and residents. Though personnel actions are not paused for these employee groups, departments should thoughtfully review and consider their budget and the needs of their units before proceeding with any personnel actions.
In an effort to support the campus in implementing this hiring pause, the Human Resources team has worked collaboratively with the Finance division, UBOs, and VP Offices to coordinate and implement workflows to facilitate the Admin Council review process for all requested actions. Our goal was to develop a review process that minimizes impact to departments in terms of changes to workflow when hiring/personnel actions are necessary.
We have developed FY2024 Hiring Pause Resources to support departments in implementing this hiring pause including implementation process and budget details and FAQs. Additional questions about hiring pause process implementation should be directed to hr@isu.edu. If you have specific questions regarding a particular need for a position or request, please contact your UBO or respective Vice President.
As a reminder, leadership will be hosting a town hall meeting from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 24 to discuss this hiring pause in more detail.
