Updates Reveal Hope and Continued Challenges in Haiti
Haiti Ministry shares two updates on the island nation from mission co-worker Cindy Corell, who continues to shelter in Virginia due to the pandemic. First is news about the assassination of the Haitian president last week. Pray for the people who will be further unsettled by this tragic event. The second is news about the hope home gardens brings to the people and the continued need for financial support. Cindy welcomes your invitations to meet virtually and learn about the people of Haiti.
Doing Great Things for God
During worship at the June presbytery meeting, Rev. Sarah Nave read something that resonated with many. In "A Liturgy for Those Who Have Not Done Great Things for God," author Douglas McKelvey begins with a question you might have asked:
"How many times have I been told,
O Christ, by well-meaning people,
that it is my destiny and my charge
to go out into the world
and do great things for you?"
Later, he shares this response:
"It is not you that will do any great thing for God,
but God laboring in you and through you
who will greatly accomplish his own good purposes
according to the workings of his sovereignty and love."
The full work is part of Every Moment Holy (Volume I). The individual liturgy is available for purchase for $1 for private use and $15 for public use (up to 100 people).
