Leadership Event Inspires Wholehearted Response to Challenges of 2020
Has 2020 wrung you out and hung you up to dry? Left you drained, with little more to give? Turn half-heartedness to wholeheartedness with a special virtual leadership and stewardship event featuring guests from the Ministry Collaborative. Examine important questions about loss, assumptions, and where we may be living halfheartedly. Find inspiration to become wholehearted in our lives and ministries despite the challenges of 2020. The event is October 24 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. It will consist of two 45-minute sections with a small break between. Each section will include a presentation and breakout conversations.
Presbyterian Women Offer Virtual Meeting and Bible Study
Presbyterian Women of the James will host a virtual information sharing on November 7 in lieu of their normal in-person Fall Gathering. During the 90-minute session, receive news from PC(USA) and Synod of the Mid-Atlantic. Hear from Dr. Lynn Miller, author of the 2020-2021 Horizons Bible study. Learn about mission offering candidates for 2021.
The Bible Study, Into the Light: Finding Hope Through Prayers of Lament, is especially apt in today’s trying times. PW of the James is offering a virtual opportunity to gather and discuss the lessons of the study with leadership by Rev. Kelly Kaufman, parish associate at Olivet Church. Join monthly on second Tuesdays at 2 p.m. beginning November 10 or watch recorded sessions at your convenience.
Organizations addressing poverty and oppression can receive funding grants from POJ's Self-Development of People (SDOP) Ministry and the national SDOP Committee. POJ's grant period closes for applications on November 1 with awards up to $3,000. Applications for national awards of up to $15,000 may be submitted throughout the year. Find funding criteria and applications for both online.
Does your church accept financial gifts online? Even before the COVID-19 pandemic required us to change our worship practices, electronic giving was a growing opportunity for congregations. Presbyterian Foundation can help you add a secure donation form to your website. Olanda Carr, ministry relations officer, can provide assistance and guidance.
A free, one-hour webinar by Church Law & Tax will discuss how church leaders confront harassment. The webinar will define the problem, touch upon prevention and training measures, and explain the ways leaders can foster the type of healthy culture that honors Christ.
