Parent Engagement Funding Opportunity: Update and Support Sessions
First 5 Alameda County released a request for proposal (RFP) in February to fund up to four qualified nonprofit or public agencies to develop and operate parent engagement and support programs.  The deadline for proposals is no later than 5:00 pm on March 20, 2020 .

First 5 is offering two proposal support sessions to assist with the HIGH5 system. The sessions are scheduled at First 5 Alameda County (1115 Atlantic Avenue, Alameda, CA 94501) for the dates and times below.

2019 Alameda County Kindergarten Readiness Assessment
The 2019 Alameda County Kindergarten Readiness Assessment is available now. The report highlights policy and program recommendations to help more children get fully ready for kindergarten, including support for families’ basic needs and expanded access to early care and education, as well as early identification of developmental concerns and support for father engagement. Additionally, the report outlines recommendations for communities and schools to help better prepare children for kindergarten. An Executive Summary of the report is also available.
Public Charge in Effect as of February 24
The Trump administration has finalized a rule change to public charge that would make it more difficult for some immigrants to get a green card or visa if they use public benefits or programs, e.g., Medicaid, CalFresh, and housing assistance.
