Keeping Hope Alive for Haiti
Cindy Corell, Presbyterian mission co-worker in Haiti whom POJ supports, has been back in the U.S. since September, when the situation in Haiti became unsafe. While the violent protests over economic and political issues that forced Cindy to evacuate have subsided, the conditions in Haiti remain dire. January 12 marked the 10th anniversary of the devastating earthquake from which the country still has not recovered.

On Sunday, February 2, we invite you to hear from Cindy how God is leading us to respond to our sisters and brothers in Haiti . Join members of POJ’s Haiti Ministry at 3:00 p.m. at Ginter Park Presbyterian Church to surround Cindy with our love and prayers as she helps us discern what our next steps might be.

If you’re not able to attend in person, read how Cindy and congregations like yours are keeping hope alive for the people of Haiti .
Updated Policy Requires Training on Boundaries
At the October 2019 presbytery meeting, Presbytery of the James updated its policy aimed at preventing sexual misconduct. Active and retired ministers, certified Christian educators, and commissioned ruling elders must follow two provisions outlined in the policy.

First, they must read the updated sexual misconduct/harassment policy and return a form acknowledging they have read it. Find the policy and form (the last page of the policy document) online

They also must complete an online training, Maintaining Boundaries in a Digital Age, developed by the Lewis Center for Church Leadership. Register for and complete the course at  www.lewisonlinelearning.org/CourseInfo/10000 (group code GRP22574419269212).

The deadline for both items is April 1, 2020.

Retired ministers and educators who do not perform service in any way in these areas may apply to be exempted from this requirement. Send a request to Fred Holbrook , interim general presbyter/stated clerk.
Registration Open for Summer Camp
Camp Hanover offers so many options for kids to connect with God, nature, and each other while disconnecting from electronics! Camps range from a few days to multiple weeks and include activities such as archery, watersports, and crafting. Campers can even explore specialty topics like horseback riding and drama. Spread the word so that the youth in your congregation can enjoy this gift.
