Stewarding the Church During a Pandemic
The pandemic has reinforced what it means to steward all that God has entrusted to our care. We are caretakers of people, services, places, and resources, each deeply impacted by the changes of the past year. Despite the challenging losses, we also have faced opportunities to grow. Deborah Rexrode summarizes possibilities in five areas of stewardship.
Grants Available for Older Adult Ministry Programs
Jump start a new older adult ministry or strengthen an existing activity with financial help from the Presbyterian Older Adult Ministry Network. Funds may be applied to a single event like a workshop or a recurring activity.
New Training Resource for Ruling Elders and Deacons
PC(USA) has a new resource to teach upcoming and new elders and deacons about the constitutional questions asked during ordination. The free, multi-session Coming Alive in Christ training is available through Equip, the Church’s online educational platform. A diverse group of ruling elders and teaching elders from across the denomination helped to create the content. The materials can be used for independent self-study or through a group process, with leader guides available for monthly meetings or a three-lesson retreat.
Poll: Would You Subscribe to Texts From POJ?
If Presbytery of the James offered text messaging to inform you of presbytery news, would you be interested? Texts would be used to notify subscribers of the publication of the Current, registration for presbytery meetings, and inclement weather alerts. Distribution frequency would be limited to once per week most of the year, but could increase to two per week prior to presbytery meetings. Only individuals who opt-in to text messages would be sent texts.
