Seven people will represent Presbytery of the James at PC(USA)'s
next month. Like our upcoming presbytery meeting, the 224th General Assembly will be virtual, a big shift in what organizers and participants expected.
The assembly will occur over three days, June 19, 26, and 27, instead of the longer session in Baltimore originally planned.
As with a physical General Assembly, commissioners will have voice and vote. Advisory delegates will be polled before the commissioner vote; corresponding members will have voice.
Our elected commissioners are
Rev. Hyun Chan Bae, Elder Marilyn Johns, Rev. Brint Pratt Keyes, Elder Kenna Payne, Elder Andrew Sanders, and Rev. Judy Thomson. Our young adult advisory delegate is Noah Morgan.
Alternate commissioners will serve as prayer partners for commissioners and the advisory delegate. Our alternates are
Rev. Beverly Bullock, Rev. Ann Cherry, Rev. Patrick Dennis, Elder Bruce Harvey, Elder Lamar Lockhart, Elder Cherry Peters, and Bethany Reitsma.
Deborah Rexrode, associate for Stewardship, has been coordinating POJ's assembly delegation.
We are grateful to commissioners and alternates for their service and their flexibility in these uncertain times. Please keep the work of the General Assembly and our commissioners in your prayers.
