Final Reminders for Saturday's Presbytery Meeting
Please review these important reminders for the presbytery meeting on Saturday.
  • Registration closes Friday at 9:00 a.m.
  • Minister members, send requests for excused absences to Franklin Reding.
  • Review the agenda and reports in advance. 
  • On Saturday, the Zoom event will open at 8:30 a.m. and the meeting will be called to order at 9:00, 30 minutes earlier than past meetings.
  • During opening worship, we will be celebrating the Sacrament of Communion. Have a bread item and beverage prepared prior to the meeting so we can partake together.
  • The meeting will end at approximately 1:00 p.m.
Help Support Afghan Refugees at Massanetta
Massanetta Springs has opened its doors again to refugees, this time people from Afghanistan. In a partnership with Church World Service, Massanetta will provide housing for 36 people through February. Your congregation can support this effort financially through donations to fund meals and housing space. Other ways to assist include serving meals and donating hygiene, cleaning, kitchen, and clothing items.
Welcome, New Pensions Consultant
Virginia’s churches have a new Board of Pensions consultant. Keenan Rodgers replaces Martha Reisner, who has moved into a new role with BOP. Learn about Keenan and find his contact information on the BOP website. 
Legacies Across Generations Topic of Older Adult Conference
The National Presbyterian Older Adult Ministries Network will hold a virtual conference October 26-28. Keynote speaker Missy Buchanan, author of numerous books on vital aging, will address the ways older adults can impact younger generations. Scholarships are available for retired pastors, their spouses, or survivors. Watch the conference live or later as sessions will be recorded.
Learn How to Engage with Communities in Advocating for Social Justice
Presbyterian Committee on Self-Development of People hosts the Struggle is Real, a virtual event on listening, engaging, and forming relationships with communities to eradicate poverty. Hear from community partners New Mexico Women’s Global Pathways and Iowa Migrant Movement for Justice as well as leaders of several PC(USA) churches. The virtual event is October 29 from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m.
