Documentary Screening The documentary film Common Ground unveils the dark web of money, power and politics behind our broken food system. On Sunday, September 8 at 3 pm, the Interfaith Committee of the Cape Ann Climate Coalition is hosting a special screening of "Common Ground" at the Annisquam Village Church. The film profiles a hopeful and uplifting movement of farmers who are using alternative, regenerative, models of agriculture, which could balance the climate, save our health, and stabilize the American economy before it is too late. Refreshments will be served. Parking is available on Leonard Street and Washington Street, south of Leonard. Carpooling is encouraged. For more information, download the flyer, or see the documentary's web site.

MANY THANKS
to Patricia Anders for donating these lovely bookshelves to the church library!
Thank you!!

Speaking of Bookshelves ... St. John's now has a few used bookshelves that need new homes! Some are free, some have a cost. All are in the Parish Hall. There's also a big bookcase, pictured, for $25. It's 70" tall, 60" wide and 15" deep. It's quite heavy and can't be broken down. You can see it in the Thompson Room.
If you're interested in taking a bookshelf home, email Marge or call the office at 978-283-1708.

This week's guest priest: The Rev. Charles Moore
Charles has had a dual career during all of his adult life, functioning as an Episcopal/pastor Priest and as a clinical/forensic psychologist. He established two pastoral counseling centers on Cape Ann and provided marriage enrichment programs to the Catholic Diocese of Massachusetts and later to the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts. He directed the MA Dept of Mental Health’s Mobile Outreach Team on Cape Anne for 10 years—the first psychiatric outreach team in Massachusetts. Following this he worked in four State Mental Health Hospitals, providing forensic services to defendants sent by the court. During this time he served as Rector at Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church in Malden, and later as interim Priest at Saint John’s in Saugus. He and Debbie then moved to Virginia to serve as Priest-in-charge of the oldest Protestant church in the United States – Merchants Hope Episcopal Church.
Charles and Debbie returned to MA in 2021 to be closer to their two adult children and two young grandchildren. Charles decided to embark on two new career paths, working for the Boston Probate and Family Court as a Guardian ad Litem and serving as chief psychologist at AdviniaCare Nursing Facility in Salem.

Music on the Meetinghouse Green AUGUST 16, 2024 6:00PM Willie Alexander's Persistence of Memory Orchestra, concert to benefit the Grace Center.
Willie Alexander, punk music legend, musical innovator, and artistic icon, returns to Music on Meetinghouse Green with his band for a rocking evening. Gloucester’s own Willie ‘Loco’ Alexander shares his legendary talent as a singer, songwriter and keyboardist. With his roots in Boston’s punk rock scene of the 70’s and 80’s, Willie’s musical career has flourished for more than 50 years. Whether as a band member with the Lost, Bagatelle, Grass Menagerie and the post-Lou Reed Velvet Underground, or as front man for his own series of bands, Willie’s enduring popularity is a reflection of his unique musical voice and artistic vision. A true artist, Willie has expanded his work to other mediums including soundtracks for local filmmaker Henry Ferrini, collage and painting. Find more information here.
