Face Mask Mandate and Capacity Limits to Be Lifted June 22Governor Gretchen Whitmer has announced an acceleration of plans to lift face mask requirements and indoor capacity limits due to dwindling COVID-19 infection rates and increasing vaccination rates. On Tuesday, 6/22/21, the face mask mandate that has been in place for more than a year will be rescinded and businesses that have been required to limit capacity in their establishments will be able to operate at 100 percent capacity. Members should note that MIOSHA COVID-19 Emergency Rules continue to be in place and enforced for employers. We understand that the Whitmer Administration is in close contact with federal regulators; should federal workplace safety guidance change in the future, Michigan is likely to follow.
