Notice Date: Friday, May 30, 2025

Project Overview

The City of Miami Beach will begin a streetscape improvement project in the neighborhood to enhance the aesthetics, functionality and overall experience of its public spaces.

What's Happening?

This project includes the installation of two-way buffered bicycle lanes along 23 Street between Dade Boulevard and Park Avenue, on Park Avenue between 23 and 22 Streets, and on 22 Street from Park Avenue to the Beachwalk. Additional improvements include, new traffic signal mast arms, pedestrian signals, sidewalks, curbs and gutters.

The scope also features a raised intersection at 22 Street and Park Avenue, intersection bulb-outs, drainage enhancements, pavement milling and resurfacing, and updated signage and pavement markings throughout the project area.

Timeline

Construction in segment 1 is scheduled to begin the week of June 2, 2025. Work hours are Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Residents and visitors should expect construction to be completed by Spring 2026.

Please know that this schedule may change due to weather and/or unforeseen circumstances.

Maintenance of Traffic

This project will be conducted in three segments, each with a detailed Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plan developed in accordance with FDOT standards. These plans will ensure the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians throughout construction.

During the course of this work, no more than one lane will be closed at a time, on any given roadway, in order to minimize disruption to traffic flow and ensure continued accessibility. Work may be performed simultaneously in more than one segment

Additional details regarding lane closures and pedestrian detours will be provided in future project advisories.

What to Expect

  • Temporary work zones and lane closures may occur within the project area. Please follow detours and signage for alternative routes.
  • Pedestrian traffic may be temporarily rerouted during construction. Please be aware of detour signs for alternative pedestrian pathways.
  • Construction activities may generate noise from equipment and machinery. Every effort will be made to minimize any disruptions to the neighborhood.
