Greetings Friends and Neighbors,

As your Mayor, my top priority remains the protection and enhancement of our village's integrity and reputation, especially for those considering investing in or relocating to Broadview. In recent weeks, our community has been targeted by falsehoods, and misinformation that threaten to undermine our collective achievements.

I extend my deepest gratitude to each Broadview resident for your unwavering trust, support, and dedication to our community. With Election Day on tomorrow, it is crucial that you are informed by facts, not swayed by fiction.

1. Village Financial Transparency: Our audited financial statements are openly available, debunking any claims of non-transparency. We adhere strictly to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), ensuring that all residents have lawful access to our records. Any delays are due solely to legal processes, not a lack of openness.

2. Staffing and Hiring Practices: Accusations of favoritism within my administration are unfounded and disparaging to our dedicated staff. We hire based on merit, qualifications, and a commitment to serving our community.

3. False Comparisons to Dolton: Comparing Broadview to Dolton overlooks our significant achievements. Crime here has decreased by 92% under my leadership, and we've been recognized for our fiscal management and public safety initiatives. Such comparisons do a disservice to our diligent efforts.

4. Mayor’s Vehicle and Security: The vehicle assigned to the Mayor's office is a village asset, utilized strictly for official duties and regional representation. Standard security protocols are followed, particularly for women in leadership, ensuring safety and professionalism.

5. Salary Adjustment: Salary adjustments are made transparently and require approval by the Board of Trustees. These adjustments consider the scope of responsibilities, inflation, and parity with comparable positions in other communities.

6. Public Safety Commitment: Our commitment to public safety is unwavering, with substantial investments in our police and fire departments to ensure they are well-equipped and trained to protect our community.

7. Economic Development: We've successfully attracted substantial business investments, including notable establishments like Chick-fil-A to Broadview Square, which have significantly bolstered our local economy and create jobs for our community. These developments are not merely plans but concrete results that are bringing real benefits to our community.

8. Community Services: Our ongoing support for community programs like the Broadview Freedom School, Move With the Mayor, and our summer youth employment initiatives are testament to our dedication to enhancing the quality of life for all residents.

Let's continue leading with integrity, accountability, and results. Broadview is thriving, and with your continued support, we will further strengthen our community.

Love and Kindness,

Mayor Katrina Thompson
