Dear Columbus Academy Families,
This week our faculty and staff members will be receiving the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine starting on Tuesday. Our first doses were exceptionally smoothly accomplished, but we know from our medical advisors that the second dose can create mild to strong symptoms and could render some faculty and staff members sick for a short time.
We have planned for many logistical possibilities to make sure that our daily schedule continues while teachers and staff leave campus at various times in order to get their shots, which were scheduled for us by the state. What remains outside our control, however, is how many might have temporary adverse reactions to the vaccine, but please know that we will closely monitor these situations and appreciate your cooperation and understanding during these challenging circumstances. Each division will communicate with you about how they might handle these situations.
Finally, as a reminder, there is no school for all Academy students this Wednesday, February 24th, when this month’s all-division Faculty Collaboration Day will take place.
Soon the snow of February will melt, all our faculty/staff will be vaccinated, and we can look to the spring when our students can enjoy the open beauty of our campus and the warmth of being together at school.
