Thank you for tuning in for Vol 5 of our Newsletter! The application for Cohort 3 is now open! The application will be available until April 22, 2022. Please review the job requirements and send in your application by the deadline to be considered.
Application Requirements
For program consideration, applicants must submit the following documents as part of their online application:
A letter of interest specifying why they are interested in teaching students at Bakersfield College. The letter should also discuss how their educational experiences have prepared them to teach at a community college with a diverse student body, like Bakersfield College.
An updated curriculum vitae with at least five professional references with contact information listed. One of the references needs to be from a current or former supervisor.
College/university transcript (unofficial transcripts will be accepted), including all college units attempted.
Statement of personal philosophy of teaching
Copy of sample syllabi
Faculty Advisor Recommendation Form
Applicant Eligibility
Candidates should be legally authorized to work in the USA;
Candidates must be enrolled in the last semester of a qualified STEM graduate program, be a recent graduate of the program, a Ph.D. candidate pursuing a STEM path, or have attained postdoctoral standing in a qualified STEM field;
Candidates considered for this fellowship should not have had any college teaching experience beyond graduate teaching assistant positions within their programs.
Program Tiers
Tier I
Assigned a Faculty Mentor from their discipline
Engages with their mentor 4 hours/week-2 in class and 2 out of class
Enrollment in the EDUC B15NC course
Tier II
Course shadowing, in their discipline, 2 times in the fall term
Attend two campus-wide committees as a guest
Enrollment in EDUC B15NC course
