Professor Brad Areheart was invited to join the Labor Law Group, an invitation-only organization of labor and employment law professors. The group is dedicated to producing quality scholarship, teaching materials on labor and employment law, and preparing students for the practice of labor and employment law.

Wendy Bach


On Wednesday, January 18, Professor Bach spoke with Professor Khiara Bridges as part of a book discussion featuring Professor Bach’s new book, "Prosecuting Poverty, Criminalizing Care." The conversation is being hosted by Pregnancy Justice (formerly National Advocates for Pregnant Women). 

Lonnie Brown


Dean Lonnie Brown has been invited to be a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation (ABF). The ABF is among the world’s leading research institutes for the interdisciplinary empirical study of law. Fellows of the ABF comprise a global honorary society of lawyers, judges, law faculty, and legal scholars who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in the profession and service to society. Membership is limited to one percent of licensed U.S. lawyers and a limited number of international lawyers.

Sherley Cruz


On January 4th, Professor Sherley Cruz presented her work-in-progress, "Decoding the Barriers in Sexual Harassment Policies," at the 2023 Annual Meeting of the Association of the Association of American Law Schools (AALS) as part of the New & Emerging Voices in Workplace Law Workshop. 

Joan Heminway


Professor Joan Heminway promoted the programming of the Institute for Professional Leadership at the 2023 Annual Meeting of the Association of the Association of American Law Schools (AALS) as a panelist in the program of the AALS Section on Transactional Law and Skills on “How Transactional Lawyers Can Impact the World.” She will serve as Chair-Elect of the AALS Section on Agency, Partnerships, LLCs, and Unincorporated Associations for 2023 and has been appointed to the Executive Committee of the AALS Section on Leadership.

 

She also recently co-presented on "ESG: Explanation, Ethos, and Ethics" at Mississippi College School of Law to kick off its one-day CLE seminar on "ESG & Energizing Economic Development in Mississippi."

Michael Higdon


Associate Dean Michael Higdon was elected chair of the Section on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Issues at the 2023 Annual Meeting of the Association of the Association of American Law Schools (AALS).

Valorie Vojdik


Professor Valorie K. Vojdik gave an invited presentation, "Tips for Effective Negotiation," on Jan. 20, 2023 to Supporting Women in Agriculture in Tennessee. The group focuses on providing education, advocacy, and networking for UT Institute of Agriculture faculty, staff, and students.
