IEW, a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education, is celebrated annually in November to highlight the importance and impact of international education and exchange worldwide. Karin Fischer, senior writer with The Chronicle of Higher Education and one of the most prominent international education reporters in the nation, will deliver the International Education Week keynote address. She will discuss the impact of globalization on higher education and how global politics are shaping higher education. Described as "one of the most astute observers of international higher education," Karin has written for the Chronicle for 20 years and writes about international education, including American colleges’ activities overseas, the globalization of the college experience, study abroad, and more.

Lehigh's Virtual International Exchange Community of Practice invites you to join us to learn about our partnership with Forman Christian College University located in Lahore, Pakistan. VIE exchanges enhance student learning and collaboration. The initiative for our second year of partnering with FCCU incorporates the use of artificial intelligence to foster student engagement and collaboration. These interactions not only enrich the students' educational experience but also help them develop valuable intercultural skills.

The Ron Koehn Conference Grant Award for Innovative Education Abroad Programs is named in honor of Ron Koehn. A long-time education abroad innovator, Ron played a significant role in advancing the education abroad field, especially through his contributions to innovations in program design. The Ron Koehn Conference Grant Award is given annually to a faculty member or education abroad colleague who has been especially effective in contributing to innovations in education abroad program design.

The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and the Institute of International Education are pleased to release new findings from the Open Doors® Report on International Educational Exchange. Experts will present data on international student enrollments in the United States during the 2023/24 academic year and U.S. students studying abroad during the 2022/23 academic year. This event is being held in conjunction with the worldwide observance of International Education Week and the 75th anniversary of the Open Doors report.
