CU Midterm Evaluation (Student to Teacher feedback)
Fall Session 2 mid-term evaluations are due by end-of-day on November 19. In every Moodle course, at the week-4 mark (11/13 - 11/19), there should be a "CU Midterm Evaluation" link in your course. This module links students to this form. Please remind your students to complete these mid-term evaluations for their Fall Session 2 courses. We recommend sending an announcement out to your students as soon as possible with the deadline and link included.
Our goal is to have all students complete this evaluation by the Sunday ending week 4 of the Fall 2 semester, November 19th. CU staff will collect and send student feedback to faculty by the following Tuesday, November 21st.
Mid-Semester Feedback for Students
As it is the half-way point in your course, faculty should also be taking time to give feedback to students in the “Mid-Semester Feedback for Students” module available in the week-4 section of their Course in Moodle:
- Go into your Moodle course
- Go to Week 4
- Select 📝 Mid-Semester Feedback for Students
- Select the blue button, “Grade”
- Begin giving feedback to each student
Note: You can do written, audio or video feedback–whatever you think makes sense for you and your students.
This is an ungraded assignment within Moodle. This means the feedback will show up in students Grades (as well as be emailed to them). This short video (4:17 minutes) walks you through how to do this as well.
We know that you all come to teach at CU because you care about our mission and our approach to developing deep relationships with students so that learning can take place in a way that advances our students' lives--both in their day-to-day work as adults and in their aspirations around earning their degree.
Given that, we want to remind folks to be thoughtful collaborators in working with our students when providing feedback and thinking about what it means to evaluate students in terms of what is actually helpful to their learning and progress. Please continue to work from a place of caring and kindness when engaging in feedback and grading and avoid punitive approaches that can detract from student motivation. If you have questions, are looking for tips and support in how to do this or improve upon it, please don't hesitate to reach out for us to chat; as always, I'm up for a chat via email, text, or scheduling a 1-1!
