Lab Faculty Marvelous March Memories:

Thank you all for an AMAZING first exhibition cycle of 2023! Here are some images from the beautiful Newport/ Aquidneck Island cohort exhibition night that had multiple generations buzzing, meditating, sharing flowers and of course petting Chris Gross’s incredible therapy dog! So much joy and brilliance in each of your cohorts.

Happy spring break week! Make sure you take care of yourselves and finish the grading and evaluations of your students.

Reach out if you have any questions, concerns or just want to talk or have tea anytime!

Best,

Getting ready for Spring Session 2

Open your Moodle course by no later than Tuesday, March 7: Check out the following videos

Attendance/Engagement Is Now Recorded in Moodle: We continue to require faculty to submit weekly Engagement. This video (9:20 minutes) explains how (and why) to use the Attendance: Engagement tool in Moodle. You can also learn more about the Attendance: Engagement tool here. Submission for engagement should be completed by Monday of the following week. Therefore, Attendance: Engagement should be completed no later than 10am on Monday, March 20 for Week 1 and then by every following Monday thereafter.

Post your Zoom link: If you are teaching a synchronous course, be sure to both post the Zoom link in your Moodle course and to send it out to students.

Holidays: As you might have seen in the Academic Calendar, we typically still have class. We don’t require you to cancel class. Still, you might choose to do something different on those holidays such as offer drop-in sessions on that day or other times that week, provide asynchronous activities, or collectively decide how you want to engage with learning that week other than meeting.

Spend Time in Moodle With Your Students During Class: Live classes should include time to walk students through how YOU are using Moodle and how you expect them to use it. This will help you tremendously! If you teach an asynchronous course, consider doing a video recording (using Zoom + the Share Screen function) to give students a tour of the space. Also, remind students that they can learn and practice in Moodle in Moodle and Online Learning 101, a self-paced course that all students are enrolled in within Moodle.

TA2BA CORNER

Hi y’all, happy Spring Break! I hope everyone had a good end to Session 1/ first half of the semester. I know for me, hearing my students reflect on their learning in Exhibitions is always so powerful. It was especially beautiful this semester to hear students reflect on how this learning has impacted their growth as educators. I’d love to include any excerpts/ ahas/ quotes from Exhibitions for the next newsletter- so please send them my way!

Last newsletter, I asked for nominations for students to spotlight. Thank you Lehidy Frias for nominating a student in their cohort, Melinda Germano:

“Melinda led her school's Unified Theater production this year. Through her resilience and countless collaboration, she was able to highlight the talents of youth in her school in Barrington.”

Way to go Melinda! Thank you for all you are doing for our youth- they need dedicated, passionate & creative leaders like you! ❤️

P.S. feel free to include this newsletter as evidence in your Big 10s 😊
