THE GREAT CRUSADER COOK-OFF
GOES SOUTH OF THE BORDER!
This Friday, during Northwest Christian School professional development for faculty and staff, we will be enjoying our third "episode" of The Great Crusader Cook-off, Season 3. Each episode during the 2025/2026 school year will highlight a different Missions Learning Partner that is part of our Build Here, Build There campus improvement campaign. And, this Friday, August 29th, we will be featuring the Kids Kingdom Orphanage and Church in Imuris, Sonora. CATEGORY 1
MEXICAN APPETIZERS
$500 for 1st place
$250 for 2nd place
This category of competition includes Nachos, Soups, Dips (Salsas, Guacamoles, Pico de Gallo, Queso Fundido), Quesadillas, Flautas, Jalapeno poppers, Tostada, Taquitos, etc.
CATEGORY 2
MEXICAN DESSERTS
$500 for 1st place
$250 for 2nd place
This category of competition includes anything of a Churro nature, Flan, Tres Leches Cake, Sopapillas, Mexican Wedding Cookies, Arroz Con Leche, Bunuelos, etc.
Details:
- The competition is purely optional! If you don't participate, no one will with think that you are a stick-in-the-mud numbskull! No one!
- Contestants may drop-off their dishes as early as 7:45am in the Don Sanderson Gymnasium. Drop-off continues until 10:45am. As you drop off your dish, you will use a notecard to identify your dish and another for your name.
- The school will not provide a means of keeping dishes cool or warm. But, there will be power cords to connect your own crockpots, etc.
- The school will provide all of the plates, bowls, table service, etc.
- Contestants should bring their own means of serving their dish. (i.e. spatula, knife, spoon, etc.)
- Judging will feature three celebrity judges and will take place between 10:45am and 11:30am.
- Lunch will be from Carolinas and be served in the Don Sanderson Gymnasium from 11:45am to 12:45pm.
- Winners will be announced at 12:15pm.
