Fair Oaks Branch Library News // Noticias de la Biblioteca Sucursal Fair Oaks
On February 22, 2021, the Redwood City City Council will be considering the transfer of operational responsibility of the Fair Oaks Branch Library to San Mateo County Libraries. If approved, this transfer is set to take effect on March 15, 2021.

What will this look like for customers of the Fair Oaks Branch Library? We’ve broken down what stays the same and what changes with the new management. The good news is that in many ways, the transition will be invisible to you! Redwood City Public Library remains committed to serving the North Fair Oaks community. How we do so may look a little different, but our commitment remains steadfast.

NEWS FROM THE LIBRARY FOUNDATION
The Redwood City Library Foundation thanks Dostart Development Company for their 3-year donation totaling $15,000 toward the library Makerspace project. Dostart Development Company develops, redevelops, and invests in high-quality office buildings in Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Peninsula. They are a pioneer in Transit-Oriented Development and built Redwood City’s first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum office development, which is located at 601 Marshall Street in downtown.
“We are proud to support the Redwood City Library Foundation and its Makerspace project. We look forward to seeing the project become a reality and provide exciting new opportunities for the community to explore and learn.” We appreciate Dostart’s support of the Makerspace project. Such generous community partners are necessary for the success of Makerspace!

ONE WEEK LEFT - JOIN THE LIBRARY BOARD
There is one week left to apply to join the Library Board! Are you looking to make an impact on your community and library services? Volunteer board members are passionate about the mission of our Library as the learning center of our community and the place where people turn to discover ideas, the joy of reading and the power of information. The Board meets regularly on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. There are currently two vacant seats that need to be filled. PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
TUESDAYS at 6pm & SATURDAYS at 11am
The group meets year-round and is open to all non-native English language speakers who are interested in developing their speaking fluency. All levels of English proficiency are welcome.

  • Read more, worry less. We are fine free!
  • All Redwood City Public Library locations are currently closed until further notice.
  • Downtown Library bookdrops are open to accept returns. Branch Library bookdrops are open on Curbside Service days. Go here for hours.
  • Curbside Service for picking up holds is available at the Downtown Library, Fair Oaks Branch Library, Redwood Shores Branch Library and Schaberg Branch Library.
  • Our events are online! Check our calendar here.
  • Meeting room reservations are cancelled until further notice.
  • Borrow eBooks and eAudiobooks; use streaming TV, movie, and music services; and access digital subscriptions to newspapers and magazines here.
