The Monthly Insight

November Newsletter

From the President

Hello All!

Hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful fall weather. The city of Fairfax has been busy with art events and festivals.

I want to give you an update about the potential relocation from Old Town Hall. As some of you are aware, Old Town Hall where we host most of our shows and receptions will be undergoing building renovations starting Jan 2025.

The FAL team (Myself, Bob Emond, Rahul Bardhan, and Carol Caputo) met with the City Cultural Arts Manager Megan Dubois to confirm details about relocation from the Old Town Hall.

I am excited to inform you that, starting in Jan 2025, Fairfax Art League will host art shows in the City Hall lobby areas at the lower level. The city has been extremely supportive of us in managing the relocation. I have a request to all of you to support the effort of moving from Old Town Hall. We will post a volunteer call for help to pack the boxes and create an inventory list. Please be on the lookout for that. We will plan to continue most of the activities that we did such as Art and Lunch, Artist's workshops etc. but will find a new venue for those activities.

Important Update!

Now all Fairfax Art League members have access to our activities and photos from monthly events through the following Google link: click here

Feel free to use photos from the linked folder post on social media and tag Fairfax Art League! Please note that you need to be a current member to participate in art shows.

We want to encourage more community members to join our Art League and participate in the activities we host throughout the year. Please spread the word and bring your friends and families to our art receptions! Let me know about any activities or art events where our members can participate. Thank you for your support.

What happened in October!!

Historic Blenheim Plein Air Painting

On October 26th, the Fairfax Art League Volunteer team collaborated with the Historic Resources Team from the City of Fairfax to support the `Plein Air Art Event at Historic Blenheim.

The event saw a great turnout with families, young children, and artists enjoying the outdoor event.

Kids enjoyed Pumpkin painting and face painting activities on the beautiful laws of the Historic estate.

Nancy Patrick provided art demonstrations to eager attendees; as usual, she was superb at that!

Rahul Bardhan, Kelly LeGrand, Maya Gorrez, and Raghad Almofeez helped with the set-up. Laura Drain and Swapna took charge of the most fun activities: pumpkin painting and face painting.

Laura got a chance to be a child again and had her face painted, too! The event was a great success. We already looking forward to the next one! Last but not least, Nancy sold some of the Artwork she presented to attendees! It was a very exciting day indeed!
