Fairfax County Begins Vaccine Phase 2 April 18th
Starting Sunday, all Virginians 16 and older will be eligible to directly schedule a vaccine appointment in Fairfax County through VaccineFinder.org. With this new system, Fairfax County will no longer accept registrations for the COVID-19 vaccine. I strongly encourage you to read this blog post  from our Fairfax County health department explaining how you can schedule your appointment directly with a vaccine provider and more on Phase 2.

The health department will continue working through those people from Phase 1 who are in the queue prior to April 18th. Once they work through those waiting, the health department will also provide locations for Phase 2 appointments.

While this is great news that more people will be eligible to receive the vaccine, I ask that all remain patient as vaccine supply may not be able to match the initial influx of those wanting a vaccine in Phase 2. We have been seeing increased vaccine supply in recent weeks than earlier in the rollout and we hope that the supply stream from the state and federal level into Fairfax County continues to increase.

To date we have administered 505,379 doses in Fairfax County, many of them to our most vulnerable older adults. In Fairfax County we have vaccinated 80% of our 65+ population, 45% of adults have received at least one dose, and 20% of our entire population of 1.2 million residents are fully vaccinated. Thank you to our health department and vaccine partners who have worked tirelessly to serve our community as we rollout the vaccine. My hope is that as we continue into Phase 2 with even more vaccine partners, our community will be safer and one step closer to recovery.
