If you have ever had your wallet/purse stolen or lost, you can relate to the work that goes into replacing everything. After filing a police report and fighting with the DMV, credit card companies and your insurance, you look back and think about what you didn’t need to carry with you. Hopefully this list will help you take some things out of your wallet or purse before you get into a bad situation.
Don’t Carry:
Social Security Card: This is the key to your whole identity and a way for thieves to exploit you.
Blank Checks: Lost checks can be exploited by criminals who find them.
Too Much Cash: If you lose it, it is not easy to recover, if ever.
Receipts: Some receipts contain personal, financial information about you.
Birth Certificate: This provides another means for identity theft, plus, it is difficult to replace when lost.
List of Personal Information: Do not carry around your password list or personal information.
Multiple Gift Cards: If you lose these, you won't be able to get them back. Plus, you can manage how you spend them better.
Too Many Credit Cards: Each card you have increases your risk of theft, loss, or unauthorized use.
If you ever have your wallet or purse stolen, call the police non-emergency number at 703-691-2131 or 911 for an emergency.

McLean Station's
Officer of the Month
| |
Police Officer First Class Ashley Block has been selected as McLean Station's "Officer of the Month". PFC Block has distinguished herself as a leader within the McLean Mids A squad through her exceptional quick thinking, leadership skills, vigilance, and dedication to community engagement.
On March 18, 2024, PFC Block demonstrated her exemplary capabilities during an incident involving a stolen vehicle identified through a FLOCK hit at the Tysons Mall. Despite the initial indication that the vehicle had left the mall area, PFC Block extended her search to the surrounding vicinity. Her persistence paid off when she located the stolen Chevy Malibu at a fast-food drive-through lane. Recognizing the complexities of the situation, with civilian vehicles in close proximity to the suspect's car, PFC Block meticulously formulated a plan of action. She efficiently coordinated with arriving units, assigning roles for the arrest and for non-lethal options, while she provided lethal coverage and gave commands to the suspect. PFC Block planned a strategic approach to apprehend the suspect by eliminating the possibility of a vehicle pursuit while minimizing potential risks to bystanders and officers alike. Read more.
