What an HONOR to get to celebrate a ribbon cutting at the new Joyce Park Event Center last Saturday. It was a great family affair and the event center is now open for your celebrations or meetings. See the link to their website below.
Look below for TWO MORE ribbon cuttings coming up at Strickland Brothers (Friday) and Taqueria El Comal. We are excited for the growth of both of these great businesses!
Today is the deadline to get registered for our Women Mean Business Luncheon coming up on March 18. It's going to be a great and inspiring program with Julia Mourer speaking.
The pictures below are from our Leadership Class work day at Shared Harvest Food Bank last Friday. The class is helping demo a space to be used as a Choice Pantry and other functions!
Have a great week!

Fraud prevention: Protect yourself at the point of transaction
In the payments sector, no topic garners as much attention as fraud prevention. It’s easy to see why. Every year, fraud practices evolve and grow increasingly sophisticated.
In its 2023 Biannual Threats Report, Visa Inc. noted that e-commerce merchants were responsible for 58% of total fraud and breach investigations, while brick-and-mortar merchants made up 20%. Among the victims, 42% reported revenue losses, while another 32% experienced an erosion of trust among their customers.
Thankfully, tried-and-true fraud prevention practices can often help prevent such losses. We’ve published a list of tips in Payments Insider that are meant to help protect you and your business at the point of transaction.
Here are some quick highlights.
Always make sure you have a valid transaction authorization: Before you ship anything to the customer, make sure you have received a valid authorization code from your customer’s card issuer. This code should be delivered to you through your payment device or our Voice Authorization center.
Always authorize and provide refunds to the same credit card as the original sale: This creates a clear paper trail in case there are any disputes.
Run the transaction for the exact amount of the sale: Only use your device for transactions directly related to your business. Do not run transactions for another person's business for any reason.
Use the built-in security prompts on your payment device: Your point-of-sale payment devices ask for key pieces of information that can help identify potential fraud.
- AVS: Most of our devices use Address Verification Service on "card-not-present" transactions. Visit AVS Response Codes for more information.
- CVV2: The Card Verification Value is the three- or four-digit code printed on the physical card. Visit CVV2 Response Codes for more information.
Keep your payment device secure: Don't leave your payment device unattended where someone can tamper with it. Lock it up when unattended.
Check your batch before you settle: If you see a transaction (especially a large refund) that you don't recognize or seems out of place for your business, you should check your sales receipts to verify it's legitimate.
