Recently, I received an email about purchasing our distribution list. I want to reassure everyone that the Fairfield Chamber does not sell our membership list to any third parties. Our members' information is safeguarded, and it's important to recognize these recent posts as scams.
To clarify, while members can request a membership list once per year, this does not entail sharing all contacts, and it's worth noting that the CAN-SPAM Act prohibits us from disclosing email addresses. The only information we do share is limited to business name, address, and main phone number. For further details on CAN-SPAM Act compliance, you can refer to the FTC's guidelines here: https://www.ftc.gov/.../can-spam-act-compliance-guide...
It's unfortunately not uncommon for Chambers with online listings to encounter such issues. This week, in particular, has been challenging for Chambers nationwide as many have been targeted by similar scams.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out directly. (Proof of how bad they are? They tried to sell me our list.)
