What a great LEARN at Lunch session we had last week with Julia Mourer of The Vine People Solutions, learning to perfect our elevator speeches. It was powerful, interactive stuff!

I hope you all had a chance to watch the eclipse. I had the great joy of watching with my grandkids. I just love this pic of my guys chilling and watching!

Recently, I received an email about purchasing our distribution list. I want to reassure everyone that the Fairfield Chamber does not sell our membership list to any third parties. Our members' information is safeguarded, and it's important to recognize these recent posts as scams.

To clarify, while members can request a membership list once per year, this does not entail sharing all contacts, and it's worth noting that the CAN-SPAM Act prohibits us from disclosing email addresses. The only information we do share is limited to business name, address, and main phone number. For further details on CAN-SPAM Act compliance, you can refer to the FTC's guidelines here: https://www.ftc.gov/.../can-spam-act-compliance-guide...

It's unfortunately not uncommon for Chambers with online listings to encounter such issues. This week, in particular, has been challenging for Chambers nationwide as many have been targeted by similar scams.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out directly. (Proof of how bad they are? They tried to sell me our list.)

Make tax season easier with Payments Insider

As spring draws near, so does tax season. For most small businesses, taxes are due April 15.

While few people look forward to doing their taxes, Payments Insider can at least help make it easier by housing your business’s card payment information all in one location.

Payments Insider is our account management portal, which is available to you at no extra cost. This powerful, interactive portal allows you to manage and keep track of many aspects of your payments account.

Along with your monthly statements, you may find the following reports helpful during tax season:

  • The Sales Summary Report allows you to view settled transactions for a selected date range to help with reporting revenue, calculating tax liabilities and substantiating claims for credits and deductions. It may also be helpful for auditing and tax compliance purposes.
  • The Payments Summary Report provides you with a customized view of funded activity and can help you reconcile each payment transaction with the associated bank deposit, so you can create a clear, auditable trail of income and expenses.
  • The Chargebacks Report provides insight into disputed transactions where customers have requested refunds through their card issuing banks. This report can help you accurately account for the loss of revenue and associated fees from chargebacks, ensuring that your financials reflect the true net income of your business.

Want more information on Elavon and Payments Insider? Contact John Webb at 937-671-1606 or john.webb@usbank.com for great rates on your credit card transactions!
