A Celebration of The Great American Songbook Saturday, May 10, 2014, 7 pm Fairfield Warde High School, Fairfield, CT The composers who gave rise to what has become known as the Great American Songbook translated positive values and an optimistic spirit into the soundtrack of American life. Their songs offered hope of better days during the Great Depression, built morale during two world wars, and helped build social bridges within our culture. The FCCC is proud to feature songs from this inspirational body of work, produced by such familiar tunesmiths as George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, Cole Porter, Harold Arlen, and Richard Rodgers. We invite you to experience with us the positive power of singing these uniquely American songs. |
