Greetings! December is just around the corner and the FCCC is preparing for our busiest winter season yet with eight performances over sixteen days in December!! We hope you will be able to join us for many of these wonderful events.

The twenty-third annual Winter Concert of the Fairfield County Children's Choir will take place on Sunday, December 3, at 3:00 PM at the Klein Auditorium. Highlights will include the Bach/Gounod Ave Maria, He Shall Feed His Flock from Handel's Messiah, the final movement - In Paradisum - from the Faure Requiem, Hymn to Freedom by Oscar Peterson and Songbird as performed by Eva Cassidy. Holiday selections will include Deck the Halls, While By My Sheep, The Huron Carol, Angels We Have Heard On High, Victory With the Help of God, Zoltan Kodaly's setting of Veni, veni Emmanuel and Jingle Bells.

One of the season's highlights will occur on December 9 when the Chamber Singers are featured in a full-length concert as part of the prestigious Music For Youth Concert Series. The concert takes place at 7:00 PM at St. Thomas Aquinas Church (1719 Post Road in Fairfield), one of the most acoustically splendid settings for a cappella music in Fairfield County. It is free and open to the public. This concert is highly recommended!

The FCCC Concert Choir will perform in Tchaikovsky's Waltz of the Snowflakes from the Nutcracker ballet with the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, December 16 at 5:00 PM at the Norwalk Concert Hall. Maestro Jonathan Yates will conduct the program. This will be FCCC's fourth performance with the NSO since 2013!

The FCCC Chorus will take part in an exciting show with The New Paradigm Theater, which will present a Radio City Holiday-type show with professional Broadway performers on December 16 & 17 at the Fairfield Theater Company.

The FCCC is in our third year of a community service project involving our choristers in caroling events. On December 11 the FCCC Chorale will perform at the Carolton Chronic & Convalescent Hospital . On December 13 the FCCC Chamber Singers will travel by bus to the Bridgeport Women's Shelter, Operation Hope and other locations to sing holiday songs and spread good cheer. We hope that our singing brings many smiles and warm hearts to the chill of December.

Looking ahead to 2018 we have the following exciting performances:

- On February 3 our Broadway concert will include medleys from Anastasia, Bye Bye Birdie, Cats and The Music Man.
- In March we will be busy! On March 3 our Chamber Singers will perform the sublimely exquisite Requiem of Gabriel Faure with the Greater Bridgeport Symphony Orchestra.
- On March 13 the Duke University Chorale will join the Chamber Singers in a joint concert at Greenfield Hill Congregational Church at 7:00 PM. Many thanks to FCCC alum Katherine Waugh for arranging this event. (She will also be performing!)
- On March 24 the FCCC will join forces with the Greater Bridgeport Youth Orchestras for a fund-raising concert we call Kids4Kids at the Bernhard Center, University of Bridgeport, at 7:00 PM.
- The Chamber Singers will again perform for the Fairfield Holocaust Commemoration Ceremony in April, one of the most important events we undertake.
- Our Spring Concert will take place on May 12 at the Klein Auditorium, featuring guest artist Nick Page.

Chorister Profiles-FCCC Seniors!
We have an outstanding group of seniors in the FCCC this year! It is always interesting to learn about them, their favorite songs and to hear their thoughts about the choir. Congratulations to these talented singers!

Abby Bruce
Name: Abigail Bruce
Age: 17
School: Joel Barlow HS
Town: Easton
Favorite FCCC Song: Wanting Memories, Total Praise, Sing Me to Heaven

In Your Own Words: I feel so lucky and blessed to be part of such a
talented, passionate group of individuals. I have been in FCCC for 8 years, and in the chamber singers for 6 years. FCCC has exposed me to amazing opportunities and memories that will last a lifetime. The most special thing about being part of the chamber singers is that every single student is passionate about singing. It's shown every Monday and Wednesday night that we all want to be at the highest musical level. The intense, yet rewarding level of hard work is what makes the chamber singers unique. As I move on to college, I hope to find that same feeling and continue to have music be a part of my life. I want to thank everyone who has helped me develop into the musician I am today, especially Mr. Noyes for working so hard to make us the best we can be. I'm going to miss FCCC so much.
Blaise Carter

Name: Blaise Carter
Age: 17
School: Fairfield Ludlowe High School
Town: Fairfield
Favorite FCCC Song:
O Magnum Mysterium
In Your Own Words: I cannot imagine how different my life would be without FCCC. I joined the choir in fourth grade, knowing that some of my older siblings had joined and that I liked to sing. However, I never anticipated the fact that choir would shape me into the person and musician that I am today. Choir has taught me the benefit of hard work, consistency, and commitment, and I have met some of the most hard-working and passionate people I know through the choir. I have been part of FCCC for 9 years, and it is always amazing to me how each and every year, the choir seems to improve in a new way. Not every group can sing Bridge Over Troubled Water as well as they can the Biebl Ave Maria. This is a testament to both the incredible musicians I have met, as well as the excellence of our conductors who help us along the way. I know I would not be as happy or hardworking without choir in my life, because there is no other group this talented that feels like a real family.

Age: 17
School: Norwalk High School
Town: Norwalk
Favorite FCCC Song: Clear Water
In Your Own Words: It's amazing to think I've been in FCCC for the
last 8 years. Being involved in FCCC is an experience that has truly shaped me both as a musician and a person. I have gained skills, but also memories that will be with me for the rest of my life. Whether it be the amazing experience of singing at Carnegie Hall to a regular Wednesday practice, it is all time that I only wish I could do all over again. I'm so happy that I could have something like this in my life and that I could be part of a choral experience such as FCCC. I look forward to my senior year, seeing it as a way to make more great memories, hoping to learn more about myself, music and community singing as a whole.

FCCC Concert Choir Conductor Jacqueline Sugrue performed with her professional choir CONCORA on November 18 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in West Hartford, CT. The concert, entitled Extraordinary Choral Masterworks, included favorite movements from choral masterworks by Bach (Saint Matthew Passion), Mozart (Requiem), and Brahms (A German Requiem).

FCCC Chorale Conductor/Accompanist Lisa Bettke recently attended the American Orff Schulwerk Association Annual Conference in Forth Worth, Texas from November 8 - 11.

FCCC Music Director Jon Noyes served as the guest conductor of the Middle School Honor Choir at the American Choral Director's Association (CT Chapter) in Manchester on October 21, 2017. He will present a workshop entitled Teaching Music Literacy with the Brain in Mind at the Feierabend Association for Music Education Biennial Conference in Chicago in July, 2018.
